what DAC, AMP, Speakers & Headphones do you have?

Along those lines a game patch could have changed the default sound profiles too.
 
That's right a windows audio setting could be messing with it, I will have to check.
Another idea, maybe a bit of an odd request but taking the headphones to a local shop (not bestbuy) and having their experienced salesperson try them, there's a Long and Mquade not far from me.
