what .zip software do you use?

that's just a viewer though, isn't it? Windows can't actually build zip archives, can it?
Right click > Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder. Been there since XP I think? Zip viewing came with Vista or 7. But it's only zip, not all the other formats out there.

I have 7zip and WinRAR installed, WinRAR being my go-to generally. Sometimes one works better than the other depending on what you're trying to do...

WinRar here as well. I guess I am just so used to it at this point why change. Its quick and easy to do everything I need.

Paid for a license like a decade ago back when WinZip was king, ROI is quite good imo. Granted I think the license terms have changed lol

I'm testing out peazip that sswilson mentioned. The portable one at least looks nice so I might have to see the full install version.

And one more grip about the newest winrar, I hate the icons. I know nothing major but just bugs me. That and the issue I mentioned before about opening things within the gui and needing to right click.

Except WinRAR isn't free and either you live with nagging reminders or you buy it.

There was a write up about that somewhere but it is legally free for personal use, just not business use. But yeah the alerts are annoying.

Personally I use 7zip because it is listed on ninite.com but so i peazip I just never have tried it.

Well winrar seems to be officially dead to me now. Just noticed that any rar created with this new version can't be turned into a cbr file without it turning out broken. Before I would create a rar then just change the extension to cbr and it worked great. Now to see if there is anything out there that does what I want.
