who all here is using windows 11?

I see similar behaviour occasionally with my browser first thing in the morning and I believe it's an issue with the wifi driver not waking properly after sleep. Any chance all of the apps you're seeing this on are somehow web connected and don't open until they've managed to get online access? (As in Office apps all wanting to confirm onedrive availability).
Well, that is a possibility. I haven't updated Office, still running 2016, but given how integrated Microsoft has tried to make OneDrive they could have changed something under the hood in Windows 11 that is causing that behaviour?

This is happening on my main PC and it's wired, but anything is possible. I'll try to test a bit more.

/snip/.......click and then go "Did I actually click that or miss it?"

Seems like it's doing something else on application start, checking something, caching something, not sure. I can't see anything odd in the task manager performance or processes, and I don't have anything malicious detected. It is a change that came coincident with the Windows 11 upgrade.

It'll be an odd one to track down, and may eventually lead me to a wipe and reinstall. Just thought I would ask in case someone had seen similar and had a quick answer.

I find that Win 10, (haven't tried 11 yet,) is often doing something else than what I expect it to be doing. It's the new Microsoft way. In a lot of ways it is not what an OS is supposed to be.

If Win 11 is worse it's even less incentive to move on.

True enough @Valkyrie but my Windows 10 was at least not suffering from this particular oddity.

I finally moved to 11 because it has improved HDR support, apparently. I do like HDR in games that support it, but so far aside from there being a few more settings in Windows for HDR, I haven't seen much difference. Maybe I will.

found that Win 11 cant process media keyboards properly as in you cant use the stop. back or next. they outright don't work.

?

I haven't had any issues with any of my k400s, nor with the keyboards/media control buttons on my USB media keyboard remotes (works with PC, but probably designed for Android TV Boxes).

this Corsair Mk 2 does not like win 11, stop doesn't work, skipping doesn't show you what next song is, the volume up wheel is disabled, and alt tab seems to ignore when pressed. tried a few versions of 11 all seem to act the same. load up win 10 any flavour no issues.

Mk2? Both my Corsair k65 lux (FN-F key controls except volume) and my Red Corsair K70 (separate media control buttons) media keys function normally except for the stop button, and I'm not sure the Stop button has done anything for media controls on any OS for quite some time (Play/pause works).

reading through these posts and then thinking about things a little to me it seems that MS is slowly moving to most things being online which to me is scarey because its bad enough with Privacy issues but I think the way things are going most of the apps for MS will be online I am sure that almost all of Office is online what else is online and in a way using a symlink, kind of like when I watch Movies of TV shows that I have are one PC but I stream them to my other PC to watch or all my doc s and important files are on one PC but I read them through other PCs or a tablet, laptop to read or email. like over time MS will slowly have everyone so used to doing things this way stating it convenient but then they can at anytime check out what you are doing reading watching using and how many people actually read the terms on those very long legal speak small print before you install consent forms lol

Alright... Windows 11 search in File Explorer... what the heck is going on?! In Windows 10 I could search a directory and subdirectory for file contents and it would find things no problem. Windows 11 search is finding nothing in the exact same folder!!!

Edit: As I was writing this, a change I had made in settings is apparently catching up. I had to go into

Settings > Privacy & security > Searching Windows > Find my files

and then switch from Classic to Enhanced. That initiated a whole bunch more indexing and now the Office docs with the content are showing in the Explorer search results as expected. Yeah... that was obvious. Don't know why I didn't see that sooner! Thanks Microsoft... holy crap!

basically wait for Win 12 it'll be Win 10 but better as it wont be a blatant reskin with features added over time but maybe a actually new Os ><
