who all here is using windows 11?

well have to wait and see if Direct Storage makes any kind of impact if it does then i may switch but till then ill stick with 10 even if MS only gives it most basic DS,

I havent even installed the reg hack since my latest install. It's annoying clicking th show more options but I'm getting used to it.
Maybe you already know and don't do it, but if you Shift + Right click you go directly to the Win10 right click menu, or what you get when you click Show More Options in the new Win11 right click menu.

I believe I've read something recently stating that one of the preview builds has a (non-reg) function that will return the original context menu (or something similar) so hopefully we can look forward to it's return.

Upgrade went fine. My complaint is that when I boot, and after all the normal stuff loads, I still have some slow startup for things like Office applications, File Explorer, even opening a browser and loading a page. But after the first time is complete, then things seem normal until reboot. Anyone else experiencing that strange lag behaviour?
No comments when I posted this originally, but thought I'd try once more. Anyone else seeing this behaviour or am I "special" yet again?

Are you saying that they're part of the startup process (those can be removed from startup in task manager) or that these particular apps just seem to take quite a while to open?

The latter, not startup apps.

It can happen with File Explorer, Office apps, even a browser and then loading a page. Sometimes the browser will open, then the requested page won't load. Close the browser, open again, behaviour is normal and page loads. It is definitely slower than I've ever seen before. Word for example used to open and you barely had time to see the Word splash screen. Now it seems like it goes off into la-la land for upwards of 10 sec or more. I know, that isn't long, but relative to the performance I saw before it's a pretty significant change. Similar behaviour with File Explorer where you click and then go "Did I actually click that or miss it?"

Seems like it's doing something else on application start, checking something, caching something, not sure. I can't see anything odd in the task manager performance or processes, and I don't have anything malicious detected. It is a change that came coincident with the Windows 11 upgrade.

It'll be an odd one to track down, and may eventually lead me to a wipe and reinstall. Just thought I would ask in case someone had seen similar and had a quick answer.

I see similar behaviour occasionally with my browser first thing in the morning and I believe it's an issue with the wifi driver not waking properly after sleep. Any chance all of the apps you're seeing this on are somehow web connected and don't open until they've managed to get online access? (As in Office apps all wanting to confirm onedrive availability).
