Corsair 12v-2x6 auto shutdown cable

What? What did I write?? lol

No I meant I used the correct cable for that type of GPU power that came with their new power supplies that supported the new standard. As safe as could be without buying additional special cables.

Or perhaps you jest Sir :)
yes, I jest, LoL!

my understanding is the cables are fine when plugged in correctly. it's when they aren't that the issues of melt down and fire happen. or has there been fires when properly installed?

That's an excellent question. I don't know if anyone has definitely stated or proved that.

I was super careful hooking up those cables. Checked checked and rechecked lol

Always been my opinion too, these companies are just capitalizing on a bit of fear from the few that have had issues. For the sheer number of GPUs sold, there is very few reports of fires. Yet people make it sound like no matter what you do your GPU cable is going to spontaneously combust.

JohnnyGuru at Corsair explained why the cable could overheat even after plugging it in perfectly. So a few silly questions from my side:
  • If the cable could come loose after a few months due to vibration and on/off heat cycling then, does that mean people need to plug it again which people also recommend not doing (repeated plugging).
  • Not sure if I'm reading the statement right, but is there a chance of the internal pin coming loose but the plug still showing as fulling seated?
At least Corsair confirmed the cable is not tied to their PSU and adapter should not be used.
