If there was a $100 TV that did the exact same thing as the $900 TV I'd buy it. For the same reasons I chose the $50 power bar over the $600. Or the $30 hdmi cable over the $200 monster hdmi cable.

Truth spoken. I fully agree. People who buy ridiculous stuff like $600 power bars, power "cleansers" and Monster cables may think themselves to be elite but I laugh at these people for throwing away cash.
 
When it comes to speakers and audio gear though, price generally does make a difference. General Consumer Electronic devices, yes, Audio Electronic devices, no.

Instruments/Tools are the same as well...there's this wonderful thing called "planned obsolecence" that means cheap things die early, on purpose, to get you back in the store, buying again.

LCD TVs...there's a price-fixing lawsuit now in progress in regards to the panels themselves, which makes the already large mark-up even greater...


But these headphones...truly, I've yet to hear anyone say that they are not capable of what they promise, including professional recording artists. They offer sonic quality that no other does...you gotta pay for that. Yes, Monster probably upped the price a fair bit, but you'll never see me buy a $30 power bar...nor a $600 one...and YES, there is a very SIGNIFIGANT difference in power bars.

I have yet to see an audio engineer praise these, and have yet to see an artist praise them other than Dr. Dre and his associates.

If there was one thing I would choose to not buy this year, it's cheap looking, battery powered headphones, endorsed by monster cable AND a professional rapper..

I've played in bands my whole life. Rythym and lead guitar and bass. I spent 2 years in the studio too, as a hired session musician and cut a cd with one of my bands. There is such a huge gap between even high end audiophile and professional sound gear. The biggest gap being consumer stuff colors the sound to sound better to most peoples ears whereas studio equipment is designed to reproduce the sound as exact as possible. That is why they are called monitors and not speakers. They are purchased purely on specs too. Not opinion.

That said, I'll take headphones by Grado or Sennheiser over anything by monster every time.
 
Ignoring something because of the brand makes just as much sense as buying because of the brand. Yes, Monster's got a few things to answer for, but that doesn't make them incapable of putting out a good product. Hell, anyone who's been into watercooling for awhile is likely aware of a few shameful moments that Koolance has had, and yet they've started putting out fantastic products more recently.

On a related note to this thread, I just noticed that Canada Computers has these phones on for $90 off right now ($250 total), until tomorrow.
 
That's just not the same thing as fanboism MpG. Ask someone who got burnt by a crappy Koolance product if they'll ever buy that brand again?

Given Monsters entire business model, as good as they may sound, I'll bet they cost about $20 to make.

I'm not a huge fan of SR125/325i, but like SR60/80 allot.
Love HD 650 though. Couldn't justify the extra 150$ for them over my denons though :sad:.
