Toronto Maple Leafs...

I was most sad to see White go as well. I am going to convert my Phaneuf Flames jersey into a White jersey and my Leafs jersey into Phaneuf heh heh
 
Im glad the trade was between Toronto and Calgary since I live in Calgary and can watch my ol Leafs buds play here.

Couple Wilson and Burke quotes:

I like the Gigere trade... eventhough his ability is in question now, he did win a cup not that long ago. And Toskala wasn't helping us any, neither was Blake. Can't blame Blake for his work ethic but just wasn't working out.

The Calgary trade I'm not so sure about. Stajan's not much of a loss and Mayers is worth a bag of pucks. Losing Hagman stings a little, not an elite forward but not bad either. Losing White F'n Sucks!! Phaneuf better be worth it! That Swedish forward has some thing like 5 goals in 45 games... whoopie... maybe we can put him with Wallin. Aulie's supposed to be good though.

Looking forward to see what the young guys can do that they need to call up to fill in up front. I'd like to see Kessel, Bozak, and Kulemin put back together for the first line.

trade basically breaks down as

Sjostrom for mayers
Aulie for Stajan

Hagman for Phaneuf
White

the latter will determine who one the deal
Sjostrom only has 1 goal.
 
Agreed ^^ I would trade Hagman and White for Phaneuf anyday. Phaneuf is only 24, and has the potential to be the next pronger. White is a good player for sure but lets face it he is not going to be a star and Haggie is 30+ and is not worth much either. Plus half of the players the Leafs are losing are UFA anyway so its better to get something than nothing.

Aulie looks good too, he could be a core player next season.

Giggy has the right though, he's the vet on the team and he's there to play, not sit on the bench like Hedberg in Atlanta.
