Project: Kangzilla

I need a hand... I'm having trouble tracking down Xeons (x5650, x5677, x5680, etc.), especially the 6-cores, in Canada. Any and all help finding them would be appreciated. So far, I can only find the x5650 chips in a couple locations. Cheers.

I got mine via special order with NCIX (call in, they order them for you etc...) took a long long while...

T3H UB3R BU1LD (12 Cores of 1337)(SR-2'S HERE -pix) - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net

glad to see another one in Canada :D

Any more picture coming?
Got a few orders on the way, so the pics will come soon. I'm trying to get some sleeving out of the way now :(

Which OS(s) will you be running?
Good ol' 64-bit Windows 7 Professional. I run the windows version of VMware Workstation, so I just use it to stand up all the development and work environments I need... besides, I need quick and easy access to my Steam account ;)

NCIX seems to have a couple 5650s in stock, but I'm not sold on that chip yet... I'm hoping to see more builds/results from other SR-2 owners before pulling the trigger... that, or win the lotto and pick up some x5680s

G'luck with your build, Hell... I'll keep an eye on it over at OCN. Cheers and thanks for sharing.

As promised, I've been slow on the updates... been kept really busy by Nils :( Sleeving a PSU is such a PITA. I only have a few left cables left, will probably be ~ 12hours of work just for the sleeving by the time it's all said and done. I will be using a single 24-pin, and bridging it to turn both PSUs on at once - will post tutorial on it later.

For anyone considering sleeving, there really is no competition for MPDC (MDPC-X International) - the quality is top notch and it was at my front door, from Germany, 5 days after I ordered it. Nils is the man.

My biggest worry now is the fans and rheostats. This will take some testing, planning and custom wiring. You can see the "bird's nest" I'll have to deal with in the next pic. 4 pumps, 20 fans and 5 rheostats :( I will also post a tutorial on the rheostat setup. Custom wiring seems to be an area of concern for a lot of builders, so I'll document the shit out of mine so you can learn from all my mistakes
