NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN 6GB Performance Review Comment Thread

Anyone with the extra patience needed for CF/sli can beat this $1000 card with 7950/70 CF or 670/80sli I'm sure most of the time, and for less money

Depends on what you mean by 'beat'. Can two 7970s A) use less power and B) make less heat? No? Will drivers for two 7970s or two 680s work 100% of the time for ALL games? No? Then its not so black and white. I would rather one fast card than two. Less hassle, more long term potential (can always add a second one...whereas with two or three smaller GPUs...you are already maxed out).

I want to see what AMD can do as right now the Titan eats AMDs lunch.

But at the price is it worth it I do not think so.
If it was set at a price range of $700 to $800 sure maybe. Ok so would two cards use less power no, but if your willing to pay $1000 for that card you really worried about power bill..lol IMO
SLi cards don't have issues. Not that I have seen.

Then lucky you. SLi drivers are better than XFire drivers, but there are plenty of games that the drivers are not optimized for it. Single card drivers ALWAYS get better faster...and always at least work. Many games wont even SLI/XFire for weeks/months after launch!

BUT dont say that power consumption and heat doesnt play a big role in a lot of peoples purchasing decisions. Lower power consumption means less heat created...which means lower noise cooling solutions needed. Not everyone wants a modern day dust buster. Not everyone wants to go the WC route. Hell look at the DB levels of this beast. It even quieter than a 680...and walks all over it in performance.

Honestly, sounds to me like some people just want to find fault with a premium card. Is it perfect? Nope. Is it the fastest consumer grade GPU to hit the market? Yes. Does AMD have anything even close right now? Nope. Could it be / should it be cheaper? Sure...but this is a status card. It is the undisputed single card KING. You always pay a premium for that. This is the same 'bang for your buck' nonsense people get one with every generation. Oh the new flagship model is X, for less you can get two Y's etc etc etc. To hear some people tell it we should all be using 20 year beater cars as they are cheaper than brand new ' Benz. If you can afford the Benz...why the hell would you not pamper yourself?!

I surprised myself by not ordering two of them. That took a lot of restraint. Not to say I won't get two,I'm going to see how one does first. If I decide on 3 of those 21.9 ratio monitors,I will no doubt need another Titan. We shall see. I can't wait! Thanks guys.

I pre-ordered 3.

I'm gaming at 7680X1600. I think 3 Titans should be enough... I hope.

Well Damn. I was going to pick one of these up as my 2GB 680 doesn't have enough Vram for some games at 1920x1200.

Now I'm not sure whether to get a Titan or a 690...

I find that REALLY hard to believe.. My 670 doesn't max out it's ram at 2560x1440.. what game? high res texture packs?

Even if you are maxing out the ram, a 690 will be of no benefit in that area as it only has 2GB per core..

SHould be, look at the scores for single 2560x1600, obviously it won't scale to be 3x the performance but there is no better solution bar 4 of these.. :bleh:

BF3, Crysis 2 w/ textures, modded gt4 all with max settings. vram is 1.6-1.9 then once in a while it hits 2 and I get a popup asking if I want to change the color scheme to basic. Running 1920x1200 plus a 1080p as a secondary, but only gaming on the 1920x1200.
