Canadian RMA Experience

Well Evga is no longer the gold standard since I stopped purchasing Evga because of the nightmarish RMAS in Canada nowadays and Asus has an RMA center in Markem Ontario if I remember correctly

Asus has an automated service which is a nightmare to use I just called and got an RMA number in a matter of 2 mins shipped it to Markem got the board back in 2 less than weeks

Was trying to find the old RMA thread to no luck, so I'll just ask here.

Has anyone had to RMA a GPU to either company in the last couple years? I know EVGA used to be the gold standard for easy RMAs other than shipping to California, but wasn't sure if Asus has improved their process in the last few years or not.
I didn't do a GPU to Asus, but I did RMA a motherboard to them, but I think it was closer to 4+ years ago now.

It was a smooth experience however. I did have to follow the bouncing ball of their process and complete a bunch of tests to convince them that it was actually the board, but I didn't find any of that to be unfair on too arduous. That board stayed in Canada at the time and overall it was a reasonable experience and they replaced the board.

Thankfully I have had very few RMA experiences! ;)

ya when I talked to them they asked what troubleshooting I had done told them this is not my first rodeo and that was it i suggest you call seems to make life a lot easier

Company: Microsoft
Component: Design Lab Custom Controller
Warranty Period: 6 Months
Location Sent: Reverse Logistics Centre in Mississauga
Additional Fees: None
Ease of RMA: 9/10
Wait Time: Less than 24 hours
Details: Very simple, registered the SN on my Online Xbox Account Profile Created a Ticket, Done
Satisfaction: 11/10

So, just a little backstory, the MS Store had a sale on their Design Lab controllers, normally I wouldn't but I did really like the Purple colour they had available so I decided to go all in and build one. I am hard on my controllers, so the fact that it broke is nothing against the quality. I just play a LOT of console recently since PC Component pricing is through the roof (i.e. I am 4K Gaming, with a full streaming setup for less than 1K).
Well, the Left Thumbstick finally started...sticking, and the A / B Keys wouldn't always register the problem.
So, I created the RMA and sent it in with a Pre-Paid Label.
48 hours later once it had been received, MS refunded me the Retail Price of the controller including Tax in Full. That, to me, was amazing. They could see from my account I got it on sale, but I ended up ahead. So in turn, I built another Controller on their Lab fully decked out, that I should be getting next week.
It was a great process, I know the warranty period is short, but if something goes wrong its a quick fix with them.

Good to hear.

I know absolutely nothing about the controller market.... what kind of premium do you have to pay for a fully customized (colour and texture/material) controller over a stock one?

It really depends on how nuts you want to go. And I went all out. Metallic D-Pad, Bumpers and Triggers, Fully Rubberized Bottom, etc.
Cost me after Tax $132.00 (I think, I'd have to look at the invoice).

They are really well put together though, and the colours and Engraving they have is top notch (IMO).

Company Name: ThermalTake
Product: ToughFan 12
Warranty Period: 2yr
Date purchased: Nov 2021
Date RMAed: Dec 2021
Where it was sent to: Thermaltake USA, City of Industry, CA 91789
Ease of RMA: 10
Any extra fees?: Shipping to them was approximately $10 for the cheapest Canada Post option
Wait time: 4 days for RMA approval, 5 days in processing once they received
Satisfaction: 10

Since Amazon was sending me fraudulent packages of ToughFans (seemingly people stole the fans, repackaged other junk fans, resealed the boxes and returned), the one that I got which actually had ToughFans ended up with 1 being DOA. I opted to do RMA to ThermalTake to get a working fan. Amazon had refunded all my orders after the debacle, so this fan was now "free".

No complaints with the RMA process, I guess it could be faster, but for a fan it's not super critical IMO. They shipped out the replacement on Dec 22 and I got it today, so a full month for USPS/Canada Post to get it back here.

forget RMA from EVGA it seems you can't even register/RMA/get support for your products with them without getting a text from them for the signup process which for some reason doesn't work for me on any of the many phones in my house. like come on EVGA wtf

Details: Missing SSD trays; they said I have to buy them from their store for $6 / each and $20 shipping, all in USD; they said it was to cut back on costs despite other customers having more trays.
HDD trays are incompatible with higher capacity drives that have no mid-point mounting holes. Asked if they have compatible trays for higher capacity HDDs; they said no, you gotta frankenstein it, cut off some bits, break off the side arms, then use screws to mount it. Mind boggling why they chose mid-mounting points for the HDDs when the common mounting holes are near the ends.
I would expect this from a $50 budget case manufacturer, but this was ~$150 at the time; you can afford to hit me up with some trays.
Satisfaction: 1

My experience with Coolermaster was the complete opposite. I was missing some screws, hit up their support, and they sent me a whole box of original screws right away. Never straying from Cooler Master again. Mind you, this was for a sub $100 case; bordering budget.

Never again with phanteks
Sad to hear it went that way with phanteks. Knock on wood, I haven’t had to RMA or deal with case issues before.
