It may be difficult going three monitors as they are usually sold as pairs until you get to the really expensive ones which are sold as singles.
You could still go with the HSU speakers as you can buy just 3 if you'd like and then get a decent little receiver. As long as your room isn't huge...
I know, but he has a $1400 budget so there is no point talking about Bose, Logitech or any "computer speakers".
Alternately, he can always go with 4 monitors and a sub. Something like the Audioengine A5+ as they are powered.
I think your best bet would to just get an HDMI splitter and it's going to be extremely difficult or impossible to find a receiver in your price range with that many ports.
Sorry, but Bose is crap...no generally about it haha. Pretty much any speaker in it's respective price range will beat out Bose for sound quality. Give these puppy's a try...
HB-1 MK2 Horn Bookshelf Speaker
The big issue with all those receivers is that the power rating you are seeing is at best 2 channels driven and will drop significantly the more speakers you connect to it. Not to mention it will have zero dynamic range. There are very few quality receivers that have any kind of output without...
If your budget is $1400 I'd go with a proper stereo setup and wouldn't even consider anything else. You have a ton of options so don't be afraid to ask questions. It would probably be a good idea to look at Canuck Audio Mart for used stuff as you can get great gear at really good prices. Also...
I'd recommend the Edifier brand of computer speakers if you are going that route. Significantly better sound than Logitech and pretty much everything else in that price range.
I'm another person who will never buy a Gigabyte board. If they can't fix the cold boot bug that's been around for something stupid like 10 years, not to mention horrible support...means a big pass for me.
It may do ok in benchmarks (strange that tweaktown didn't have any Asus ones tested) but there is no way I'd rely on a Linksys and especially not at that price.
I think there are a lot better options out there that aren't as expensive as mentioned. Schiit produces some great DAC's and Headphone amps at great prices. Of course it helps when you are internet direct. If I had the cash right now I'd be buying the Valhalla headphone amp and the Bifrost DAC...
Board is dead. Get rid of it and buy something else, preferably a non gigabyte board as they refuse to fix this problem. Make sure to complain about it loudly and hopefully one of these days they will smarted up and actually do something about it although this issue is about 10 years old now.
Bump, these are some great deals people. Will be posting on other sites soon so grab them before they are gone. The UMC-1 is only a couple years old and was orignially $699 US which was already a bargain at that price.
I have some extra gear that I'd like to sell. First up is the amazing Emotiva UMC-1 processor. Here is a link to all the specs...

And also the manual...

The only reason I'm selling it is that I picked up a...
Really sounds like the Gigabyte cold boot problem. If it is, chances are it will continually get worse until one day it just won't boot anymore. As this issue has been around for almost 10 years now I won't purchase any of their mobo's anymore. Been burned twice by them and since they refuse to...
I actually bought an Insignia for the spare room and was surprised at the picture quality considering it's price. While it doesn't get used all that much it was a great deal and had the best picture in that price range.
