GIGABYTE 9-Series Motherboards Preview Comment Thread

I love Gigabyte but one board w/ an m.2 and it is seriously gimped at 10Gbps? That means modern m.2 drives are bottlenecked before the board even drops. Guess I will wait till the next revision.

That isn't Gigabyte's fault.....but we can't say more.

Plus, in my opinion, m.2 is an absolutely horrible band-aid solution. It's unrefined and disastrously implemented.

The new MSI 9 series 'gaming' boards are available to Google now, and they all support M.2. However, I don't believe they have SATA express at all. They're pretty slick looking redesigns though.

I like the move to the upgraded audio hardware on the Gigabyte boards. And tossing that horrid neon green look was a smart move. (Not only ugly, but basically impossible to match with any other components.)

All in all, the 9 series market looks to be shaping up rather well after a lackluster 8 series release. I like seeing multiple brands completely refreshed to breath some change in to the market. Especially when it coincides with some of my own shopping. (Even if a lot of it is mostly visual.) Too bad the coinciding 'Devils Canyon' CPU's look to be a less than exciting release.

Some of these boards do look nice, but I don't think I can bring myself to touch Gigabyte again after all the horror I hear about warranty support. As said earlier, the high end audio being integrated sure is something I like seeing. If it could somehow be done on an ITX board, with amplification, it would definitely be my next purchase as I'm not using my PC350's on something that isn't amped.

As nice as some of these boards may be or look, still not touching Gigabyte with a 10-foot pole due to their RMA support/services and well how abysmal it is.

I'm another person who will never buy a Gigabyte board. If they can't fix the cold boot bug that's been around for something stupid like 10 years, not to mention horrible support...means a big pass for me.
