Need to find a case for cheap

When I built up a bunch of systems for our office for key people (like myself), I wanted a system that had plenty of capacity, could handle an AIO cooler, had a door, USB 3 ports, and sound dampening material. Granted it doesn't cover the ENTIRE front (there is a cut out on the door to allow...

Work in progress Muzzle Flash III: White Death

Yup. I have an old school non-ATX power supply that I use for just giving me power to devices, and I powered the AQ6XT with that, then I have a USB A to USB header cable that I connected the AQ6XT to the laptop to. Sneaky eh? :thumb: On a side note, when you daisy chain 8 fans together make...

Define S vs Enthoo Pro M - Which is better?

I agree with this (aside from the 5.25" bay comment). I just don't like the look of the front air intake, and I don't like the fact about the lack of included hard drive brackets that cost $10 a pop. They should include 1-2 for that price.

Work in progress Muzzle Flash III: White Death

Yeah, I'm just doing a basic test. I have to actually pull out the whole mid plate one more time so I can cut the holes to run the power wires to the motherboard. I just got tired of not seeing anything get anywhere. :haha: That and I wanted to see how noisy the flow meter is. Last time I used...

Work in progress Muzzle Flash III: White Death

Well, I hooked up most of the plumbing, ran a bypass (which is basically the CPU and GPU's), filled it up, and turned it on. Bleeding was very quick, and the system is very quiet ... even with the sides and top open. So far, no leaks. I'll let this run for 24 hours though. Loading up the...

Work in progress Muzzle Flash III: White Death

*sigh* Went to make the 4-pin 'Y' cable for the aquabus, and ... I'm out of 4-pin female connectors (and nearly out of 3/4-pin pins too). I did manage to make the 4 'Y' wires, just nothing to put them into. :censored: Every single store that I would normally order from in the states is out...

Thank you, that means a lot. :punk:

I might re-sleeve the fan with orange, that will only be like 6 inches. I planned to have it come down that back and tuck it under the mid-plate and run it underneath it and along the metal rail (which really isn't visible since I plan on leaving the stock side panel on on that side of the case...

    coolant

I too have tried everything from distilled to just about every pre-mixed you can think of. Pre-mixed are nice, and will get you about 1-2C cooler than distilled with something like a Mayhems biocide (I've also done silver kill coils as well, but now, I just use a biocide), but are they worth...

    Microsoft announces Windows 10

Upgraded my Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit machine at home this morning from a USB drive and a Windows 7 Pro 32-bit machine at work today from direct update. Both went off without a hitch. I had to reinstall DirectX 9.0c for some of my older games, but other than that, no issues at all. Now testing...

Work in progress Muzzle Flash III: White Death

I'm running very low on orange, and since MDPC is closed for another couple months, I was planning on saving all the orange I have on hand for the power cables for the motherboard and video cards. Pretty much all these cables will not really be seen anyway ... most only poke out of the "dog...

Work in progress Muzzle Flash III: White Death

Still busy making cables. I didn't get a lot done last night as I was upgrading to Windows 10 and testing things out with the RTM version. I did manage to get one done, a specialty one for the Aquacomputer High Flow sensor to measure the flow rate of the coolant. The connector on the visible...

Work in progress Project Neu Heights

More goodies arrived today, so picture time! I fired up the Dell 27" 4K monitor and sat it next to my Dell 24" monitor, and it totally dwarfs it. Here are the rest of the goodies ... Samsung 850 Pro SSD (512GB), 4TB Western Digital Black, an LG BluRay burner, and a copy of Windows 8.1...

Well, it isn't an exciting photo, but it is a key part of the system. The Dell P2715Q 27" Ultra HD (3840x2160) IPS display.

Work in progress Muzzle Flash III: White Death

Several people asked me what tools I use to do my sleeving (they are looking to get into it themselves), so I'd figure I'd show them. The Knipex wire strippers are good to get a consistent length. The diagonal cutters are for cutting wire and the sleeve. You never know where you might...

Work in progress Muzzle Flash III: White Death

Well, as luck would have it, I found all the bags of my heat shrink (standard, sleeving, and even my colored shrinks). Only got two cables done, but hey, it's a start.

Work in progress Muzzle Flash III: White Death

Oh, there is no shrink on those yet. I just cut the wires to length, put connectors on one end, then cut the sleeve to length and slid it on. I'll slide shrink on them soon enough .... like when I can find my bag of heat shrink, it's gotta be around here somewhere, I can't be out. I tell...

Work in progress Muzzle Flash III: White Death

Wires, wires, wires everywhere. First up are the two cables that will connect channels 1 and 2 on the Aquacomputer Aquero 6XT to the 2 Grid fan splitters on the radiators. I'm just going to go with basic black, all the fan sleeving down below is also black. After these, I have to make...

Ok, here is a shot of the redone brace. As you can tell, the gap is MUCH less visible ... even up close. Both the top and side are on and it all looks good.

Work in progress Muzzle Flash III: White Death

I screwed up and didn't notice the hair that had gotten on the bottom brace when I painted it BEFORE I put the pop-rivets in. So rather than tear the whole thing down, I masked everything up, sanded the brace smooth, and resprayed it. The joys of not checking everything with a fine tooth comb...
