6 SERIES!

Yeah, the 6850 not only beats the 460, but does it with one pin. I feel like an idiot having bought the 5830. This card will be around the same price, but 15-20% better.

Isnt technology grand? :haha:

If we constantly waited because of incremental performance, we'd never buy anything. Realistically any new generation card only has a 18-24 month life cycle (manufacturers and engineers revolve around Moores Law more or less). So technically speaking, being on the bleeding edge has its advantages, as you maintain a current generation of hardware 'longer' (being a relative term lol) then buying late in a generations life cycle, only to watch the next generation come out in 6 months.

Rereading this, it seems clear, hopefully my intent comes across well...

I would not wait longer than a couple of weeks to make a tech purchase (unless some near-term tech release has a feature I wanted to have that current tech does not have).

one suggestion. sell it asap. give it a shot at least. till its still fresh. in a few months it wont be worth much

After reading the review, the 5830 doesn't look so bad....I might just keep it.

My tactic, buy the second best single slot card for the series (ie. 5850 for the 5 series) overclock it to reach the highest single slot cards performance. Wait patiently for the next series, pick up an identical second hand card cheap of the net, crossfire. Wait till next series.

Works like a charm in most cases, there'd have to be an insane jump in processing power to ever undermine that philosophy (Y)
