AM5 7950x build

So the Assassin III doesn't use a backplate with am4? I thought that was the problem. There is an am4 kit with this cooler but there is no backplate so I thought it was just missing. You're saying it doesn't need one?

Check the product page. It say it's AM4/5 compatible. After reading the install PDF, it appears that it uses the stock backplate that should come with the motherboard and you screw in the CPU cooler retention bit and then mount the cooler to it.

Definelty check factory sites for compatibility. That said, the main point is that the back plate on AM5 is not removable (shouldn’t be). So generally any coolers that used the stock AM4 backplate should be compatible on AM5 using its backplate. If the cooler came with a custom backplate, it will be a no go…unless the company makes some kind of aftermarket AM5 adapter.

The Assassin III should work so long as there's no issues with VRM heatsink clearance. I'm hoping to get this build up and running this week. I just have to get a motherboard and case. I have an old CM-690 I'm using right now that I modified to fit a rtx3090, but I want to get a new case for the new build.

Anyone here have the new Lancool III case? I was thinking of geting the Lancool II but the III looks like a decent upgrade. There's a dust filter kit for the Lancool III but I can't find it available in Canada yet. I have a 3d printer and could probably make my own filters though.
