Android Nougat

Don't have it so I can't comment on it personally, but after the HUGE disappointment that Marshmallow was with the new features that were nearly useless I'm just saying I'm in no rush to put it on my phone before Motorola makes it available to us and I hope it doesn't bork my phone. Motorola is one of the fastest to implement updates and my X Play is on the short list definitely getting the update. We'll see.

Fast updates you say? Got a system update today, thought it was 7. Instead it is the "Oct 1, 2016 security patch" to 6.0.1. Oh well, still supposed to get 7 some day, lol.

Got an 'OTA' upgrade for Cyanogen Mod for my Redmi Note 3. Installed it without noticing it was 7.1.1. Reverted back ASAP. No Xposed yet, which is a automatic no-no for me.

Getting a phone with 6 on it was a mixed bag.... on one hand I got the native ability to block numbers without having to add the spammer to my contact list first, but on the other hand the new SD scheme feels like a step backwards in ease of use.

Got the security update for my X-Play this morning. The October patch! Yeah, i really want a pure Google phone! And my X-Play is a bit stumbling since I applied the patch despite 2 startups. Meh, maybe a hard reset will work it out.

Added Nexus 6 to the lineup... Will probably keep the X-Play as backup. The N6 has Nougat 7.0 with November security patch.

Android 7.1.1 came today to the Moto X-PLAY with security patch dated September 1st.

Yeah, I was surprised that my samsung tab E got an update from 6 to 7.1.1 the other day. Patch level is only August 1'st though. (Believe this was on the Virgin network so I'm assuming the updates are still through them).

My X-Play is with Videotron, and is not unlocked yet, but the update came from wifi as it no longer it has a sim inside, now the sim is on the Nexus 6. It still is a little worked by Motorola, as it says Hello Moto at the boot time. And it added the restart function, previously the X-Play had only power on/off function, no restart, very annoying! But Motorola lost me as a customer, the updates are coming waaaay too late. I still have like 180$ till i can upgrade for free, so it is not a pressing concern right now, but after how things go, I will probably just keep a phone for occasional calls and just get a tablet for gaming and other tasks like gaming and web browsing.
