ASUS P5KC testing

Ok so with the help of Brian @ Mushkin and Jimmy @ ASUS we got the divider issue sorted, whoo hoo!

First off, forget using auto on any RAM secondaries when changing DRAM freq. BIOS sets them too tight and you get no boot. So disable DRAM Static Read control and set secondaries as follows:

TWR: 5
TRFC: 42
TWTR: 11
TRRD: 3
TRTP: 5

5:6 and 4:5 dividers confirmed to be fine! :bananafunky:

My issue was static read had to be disabled and twr was too tight. I will tighten from here to the point of instability and post an update. NOW I can mod!
 
good news foresure, can't wait to see what it will do. keeping with the Asus theme, for anyone who wants to know, the P5K3-Dlx i just started working with sunday is kicking ass and taking names :thumb:

if there is interest, i can start a thread but the memory i am working with is pretty boring so i wasn't going to bother.

back now to Eldonkos un-highjacked thread :biggrin:

Yeah Im glad I got that sorted so I can do some damage with this thing. I also tweeked FSB up to 510 benchable now as well. I think this is near CPU cap, I am going to see with some sub zero as soon as I get a chance.

Vcore and vdroop volt mods done. Mods work perfectly, vdroop when from 0.13v to 0v. Vcore adjustable to whatever I see fit. ;)

Mounted the trimmers to some pcb and glued down for easy access:

Droop = 0v! 1.50v BIOS = 1.50v idle, 1.50v load, Real vcore = 1.49v steady.

How sensitive are the pots?

I'd never really thought about what benefits you'd get from this kind of mod, but now I'm thinking that setting a relatively high (let's say 1.6V) Vcore in bios would allow a person to adjust on the fly while stress testing to find the lowest possible stable Vcore for a given OC.

Like I said... Very Very Cool!!! :)

I only use 2 fans and they are connected to a fan controller.

The pots are 25 turn so they are very easy to get exactly how you like. There is a benefit to each mod. Before mod vdroop was huge, 1.60v BIOS only got me 1.47v real under load. So the droop is eliminated now. Also max BIOS vcore is 1.7v. With droop I would have been lucky to get 1.56v real @ stock but now when I bench I can whatever vcore I need and it will stay solid under load. :)

Added a 120mm over the area with the roasting mosfets. I measured with fluke 80C+ in that area even with it sinced. Fan dropped that by 20-25C. I'll see if it helps with stability at high voltages soon. At the least it should help that cap to not explode..
