Ati 5870 info?

I wouldn't worry about it! DX11 games are around a year away. Buying a card to play games a year in advance isn't a good idea. Games are often delayed anyway. Just enjoy the 4870 you have for now:biggrin:. Of course if the 5870 is released in the next month and its the same price as a 4870 now then you'll be a bit pissed off of course...but who knows when this card will appear-my guess is Spring 2009.

I agree, I wont buy a dx11 card until there are dx11 games out. However I would buy a dx11 capable card if it's dx10/9 performance was through the roof like it was for dx9 games with the dx10 cards.

But i'm predicting it a little sooner, they will have to compete if nVidia is planning on a 380GTX

I don't understand why people get so hung up about DirectX I am still working with DX9 and 32 bit operating system and we all know that you need a pretty keen eye to see any difference between that and DX10. If DX11 brings drastic changes to the application lets just hope that the microcrap and the game developers work together to bring us DX11 ready games upon its release if not before.

Call it wishful thinking though,

EE

After the first dx10 capable games were out, the first dx10 hardware was not very capable of powering it.
If crysis is any indication.
I would wait until second generation dx11 cards are out, if dx11 gaming is of importance.

I usually wait 5 years and then upgrade everything. putting a new card in an aging pc isn't really going to improve much.

I'll be perfectly honest with you EE....the thing that has me the most concerned right now with my new I7 build is the switch to Vista 64 Bit....I know I know...many folks are saying its pretty good....guess I'm just comfortable with XP 32 Bit......I'll likely feel like a deer staring into the headlights for a few days!!

I went from 98SE to Vista 64 in june and had no problems, I doubt you will either.
Step 1: Turn off UAC
Step 2: Turn on classis view
Step 3: Make sure UAC is off
Steps 4~10: See step 1 ...

UAC isnt even an issue, its there as a security measure. If everyone left uac on vista would be far more secure. a you only need the classic view if you have horrible onboard video lol

I'm holding out with my Radeon HD 3650 until either 4850's price drops further or the 5xxx is a must have. I am really looking forward to DX11 b/c of GPGPU capabilities.
