Core-i9 vs. i7-975 Extreme Edition

To put performance into perspective, I just upgraded my QX9650 LGA775 to a Core i7 965 Extreme. The ONLY reason I run these high end CPU's is because I do not have to pay for them. I don't notice much difference between the 2 unless I run multi-threaded apps and even then the difference is not big. I third the spending of cash on other faster system parts such as SSD's. I sure can't wait to get my hands on a few of those, lol.

the Yustas computer and co, and I'm serious, people here can help you to build a better one, Dell overheat , have PSU at the limit, I know the XPS of my wife is dam hot, and only a 420 watts PSU, good I remove the 8800 gt inside

No brand. Custum made computer are best. If you don't want to build it yourself go to a local shop and paid them to build it. You can get way better quality component and of course...more service from manufacturer. In the new build section you can post all your need and budget people will tell you what to buy you can call them from NCIX and pay 50$ to get it fully assemble. Hope that help you;)

Once you've built a custom computer you'll never go back. NCIX offers to build your computer for 50 dollars which is dirt cheap. With price matching from NCIX and the shipping deal they have on right now, you'd be crazy not to give it try. Don't worry about support you've got the best in Canada right here at Hardware Canucks!

So I checkout the Dell site for the computer your planning on buying, and I've got to be honest if your willing to spend 2700+ for that computer with the only notable component being the I7 975, your quite frankly crazy. For 2700 we could put together a system that would leave that Dell in the dust with or without that I7 975. In fact I'm going to put together a quick build just to give you an idea of what you could get for let's say 2500 bucks might aswell try and save you some money, just in case you live in Halifax you can buy me a beer sometime, lol.

That's without the 50 bucks for assembly. We still need a case to put it all in. I would recommend a Corsair 800D but it's 300 dollars next on my list would be a Coolermaster 932 at about 170 dollars. If you compare this build with the Dell XPS you're getting better bang for the buck. I know many of these products can also be price matched and you'll save even more money, for instance I'm positve that the Rampage motherboard can be had at Canada Direct for 370 bucks almost 200 dollars savings right there.

You'll also notice lot's a storage with the 1TB HDD and an SSD to load up your Operating system, this computer would blow your mind. Anyway it's getting late and I'm starting to ramble, always happens when I think about building a computer with someone else's money, lol. Food for thought anyway.
