Corsair H80i & H100i Review Comment Thread

Nice to see Corsair continuing to improve this product. I have an H80 and couldn't be happier given the price point...

That being said, I wouldn't call it water cooling ;)

Thanks for the write up, AKG.

I swapped out a NH-D14 for a H100i on my 3930K and it is worth every penny. :thumb:

Really? Would you please further explain why it is worth every penny? You see I own two NH D14's and have been tempted to move to H100i or Swiftech H220.

Thank you

Thats easy. No more couple pounds of metal hanging off the mobo. All the CPU heat is exhausted OUT of the case - ignore Corsair's recommendation on air direction its....suboptimal. Easy control over the fan speed/noise profile. As good to better cooling potential. Ease of installation. Ease of swapping ram. Bragging rights. The list does go on and on. ;)

I was hoping that I would hear that the h100i would out perform the D14 by a decent margin. 5C or more would be nice under load.

It would be nice to have a NH D14 or ___________ best air cooler vs the h100i/X60/H220 comparison. Personally I have not touched my D14 for a long long time. It is in my case and it keeps hot things cool. I use ASUS Fan Xpert to manage fan speeds.

Then you will most likely want to look at the NZXT X60 (and maybe H110). Its even bigger and better. Should easily beat a D14. /whistle

Linus ran the X60 through his test bench. It narrowly beat the H100i. I was not impressed. I expected more. :(

Lets just say that when you stick four good fans - like the stock NZXT fans- on a 280mm rad...its a beautiful thing. The H100i is a beast, but the X60 is a bigger beast. ;)
