Eurocom Notebooks/Laptops worth purchasing?

Check it out. We reviewed it on the YouTube channel not that long ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xMDIcTW5g8

HWC has reviewed Eurocom M5 favourably - http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...o-gaming-notebook-review-970m-i7-8gb-ram.html

Another model I had seen mentioned on RFD a couple of months ago (Shark 4) used a Clevo chassis and was very price competitive for the features it offered. I believe it has since raised a bit in price.

As far as I know Eurocom doesn't make their own laptops, so they are going to have really good stuff, and really bad stuff. The only thing to watch for is I believe their laptops only carry 1 year warranty.

What, the first time a link was posted to our review wasn't enough for you Skymtl??? ;)

I wouldn't trust those BB sales reps, most of them don't know what they are talking about beyond comparing cpu/ram/hd/screensize/weight. I used to work at Eurocom in the Service and QC department. If you can afford the price of entry, they are nice machines. I recommended one of their gaming laptops to my buddy in the military so he could get his gaming fix while deployed overseas. He's been quite happy, taking it to Afghanistan and back without issue. It's worth noting that they are a Canadian company based in Ottawa, so you should get a higher level of after-sale care compared to Dell/MSI etc.
I would also suggest contacting Eurocom directly, they may give you a better deal then buying from BB.

edit "Just the feel of the Eurocom laptops would tell you they are inferior" - These BB guys are full of bull. 100 bucks says that he's never picked one up before.

I bought one for a client who wanted something other than Dell (it was for their kid) and for being the cheapest model (or close to it)I was really impressed with it. Had a great feel to it, wasn't too heavy, way better screen than what I've seen on any of the Dell laptops. I would order one for myself without hesitation.

The sales rep is probably trying to make commission by talking the OP into a more expensive system, along with the extended warranty. The M17xR3 that I had was awful. Here is a list of what went wrong with mine:

- DOA 120 Hz 1080p screen - Vertical blue line down the middle.
- The metal banding around the top of the keyboard is attached with sticky glue and needs to be reapplied if you have opened up the keyboard section of the laptop.
- One of the Seagate 500GB hard drives had a periodic clicking noise, which was replaced with an SSD in the end.

Unless they changed it when the closed down Futureshop, BB is commission free. That employee makes min wage or a bit higher then that an hour, that's it.

Arinoth's right on the commision bit (unless a recent change), more likely the BB rep is just a retail floor salesman and really only knows what info he/she's been provided in store, and maybe they read the occasional review (much less likely). You can't really expect expert information from a big box retailer.

Lately I have been playing Heroes of the storm and Csgo and been looking for a laptop that I can still play when Im away from home. I was looking at the Electra 3 as I wanted to stay around $1000. Do you think this would be fine in my case?

Don't look at the Electra since it uses slightly older technology. Rather, something like the Shark 3 would be an excellent choice since it uses a MUCH more powerful and efficient GTX 960M and can have a 500GB SHDD for just $30 more.
