Hmmmm that's rooky numbers what ya need to do is get 128gb turn portion into a ramdisk and run everything through that temp/chrome can get that done to 0.00000000001ns 🤣
 
Why are they so ugly?
will be hidden inside a laptop chassis where you can't see it unless taking it apart so they probably don't care. This is to replace SO-DIMM modules not SDRAM modules

Bahh sorry mixing up threads was thinking about the laptop ram topic that popped up this morning. These ram sticks are definitely not what I'd call pretty.

LOL What? These are full size DRAM moduels for a pc with RGB, etc. I agree with Jokesrter, these Geilid are ugly af.
 
This is just crazy; the speed that these have increase by since a year ago. I just bought a 6200 kit thinking I'm fancy. Now I'm sending it back for a 7600 kit. Along with an Z790 Apex that popped up on Newegg yesterday.

Its nice but its still only for 16 Gb modules.

I want 2x32 modules that can do 8000+ next.

The thing with DDR5 ram speed though is you are still bottlenecked heavily by GPU, even a 4090 isn't enough to utilize these ram speeds at 4K max settings. Ram speed is always staying so far ahead of everything else that you can only see the benefit in 1080p low settings tests or benchmarks.

I ran 64gb for a few years, and then a year ago when I upgraded I went with 32gb and for me personally it didnt make a difference.

Its going to start making a difference now though, Anno 1800 with most expansions minus the last 2 already uses 28 Gb, Star Citizen which I'm very interested is very ram heavy, not only with capacity but one of the few games that scales well with overclocking ram, and someone on OCnet tested 32 vs 64 Gb in a few games, and the 0.1% lows went up a lot in Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk somehow.

I also use a lot of mods in my games, I can easily get modded games to go above 32 Gb so its something I would like.

Currently though for 2x32 and getting good overclocking and tuning, the only valid option is Micron B die which was discontinued a long time ago, and is what I have in my 2x16 ram currently. I was considering simply buying another kit second hand, but a lot of people have tested 4x16 DDR4 and DDR5, and basically any ram modules in the second channel completely breaks overclocking, and lots of those Asus Z690 DDR5 boards were having the second channel fail.

32 Gb is still plenty for 99.9% of cases right now, even 16 Gb is likely still fine for 99% of games, but all it takes is 1 game that benefits from more that you want to play to necessitate getting more ram.

But other than looking for a second hand 2x32 3600 Crucial Ballistix kit, for overclocking there still aren't any other viable options for 2x32.

So I'm planning to stick with my Micron B die 2x16 for a couple more generations, but hoping that by Arrow Lake, 2x32 Gb DDR5 can reach 8000+, as it would also take 8000+ to get any significant improvement over my current overclock on DDR4.

Also remembering back to when DDR4 launched, initially it was just 4 and 8 Gb modules, and the 8 Gb ones went up to 3600 initially. I stuck with my DDR3 for several generations until 2666 2x16, which overclocked to just 3000CL14, so then I upgraded to 2x16 3200 which I got lucky on with Micron E die and it overclocked to 4200CL16, then last year when DDR5 launched I found my current Micron B die on its EOL sale for £180, currently running at 4300CL14.

So like it took a few years for 2x16 to get good, I'm expecting it will be the same for 2x32 with DDR5, so again thats when I will upgrade to DDR5.
