Heads up about Tiger Direct

I can give a little more background since my Company has a Corporate account with TD.

They from my understanding at least were purchased by another company, and as such they are clearing out the inventory they currently have. They are also changing what manufacturers they support for products as well (Learned that they no longer carry PYLE which is why I had an account with them).
I don't think it is a going out of business sale however.

They need to clear stock, they refresh inventory for now.

There's a bit of misinformation in most conversation I've seen on this. Only the B2B portion of Tiger Direct was acquired by PCM. In contrast, Acrodex was fully bought out by PCM as the first major part of their move into Canada. The policy change/liquidation may be indirectly happening due to this but it's definitely not PCM killing them off.

The B2B portion will be affected by this sale but what about the storefront side of the equation.

From the sounds of the discussion from "insiders" on other forums it sounds very much like the few remaining physical stores are closing, and that the consumer sales portion won't be around by the end of 2016.

Not surprising. I've seen very little incentive to buy from them over the years. Outside of the odd sale item, I'd say 8/10 times the prices where unreasonably higher than competitors like newegg, ncix, memex and shipping always seemed expensive. I'd only ventured into their Missisauga retail location, but it seemed pretty underwhelming from a PC side of view compared to Canada computers or a Memex. I can't say how their returns and service fared since I never had an extended dealing with them.

Obviously it's too bad for the people working for them, but I doubt there were too many lifers who couldn't see the writing on the wall. For their US retail, I'm not sure if that leaves any other large PC/Tech suppliers that are spread out across a lot of the US. Fry's is the only one I can think of, but I think they're mostly in the South. I suppose there's Micro center, but I don't know a lot about them.

Ordered cpu and m/b on black friday. received cpu on dec 17th, shipping says mobo set for jan 4 delivery. the experience sucks but the deal was great. also, many people have not received BF deals from ncix yet either.

Probably people still waiting for last years BF deals to show up from NCIX.

Too bad, while their prices were not the best, TD did ship quickly compared to the rest of Canadian online stores.

Peeked through the website a little bit for USB hubs, mice, etc. Selection seems really limited for the most part. Fortunately I don't need anything at the moment.
