Help me pick a folding GPU

Of all the cards I've owned for folding (8800GT/9800GT,8800GTS,9800GTX+/GTS250 and GTX260) I find the GTX260 the best all around card both from a cost/PPD perspective and performance. They run cool, fairly quiet, produce decent PPD and can be had for $150. or less used. They get my vote for best all around folding card... :thumb:

Any changes ?
Nope, things are pretty much the same as they've been since that post was made.
So I'd even put that in the place of the 8800GS/9600GSO because lets face it. 100 for a brand new card with warranty. Gets you about 4 - 4.5k depending on WU and pulls an almighty 51W. Good numbers in my books.
PPD/W? Maybe. PPD/$? Not a chance. If you can find a used 9600GSO, it'll run less than half that price and produce the same amount of points. A used 9800GT runs about $50 and produces more. And a used GTX260 is about 1.5 times the price and puts out nearly double the PPD.

My Point in the above statement was for the fact you can get a new card for around a certain cost that will not only have warranty but run low power consumption.
And with my experience with 4 different GT240's I can also say they are damn silent running and very cool in their operation. Which is something the GSO/GT cannot say.

Like I said, there is some validity to your comments if you're talking about PPD/W. But as far as cost goes, the GT 240 is not an ideal choice.
