Hot Deals!!!!!

It for sure came from a store within Amazon. Which unless it's shipped by Amazon I would never buy from.
People have said Amazon just throws all the same items (regardless of how it was sourced) into the same "box". Sold & Shipped by Amazon doesn't mean much, as the origin might still be a 3rd party seller's item that was thrown in with Amazon's own inventory. You just get an easier return process.

I still remember the 2 pack of ToughFans I bought from Amazon where somebody had swapped the fans inside and re-sealed the box. This is probably the same, somebody bought the 9800X3D, swapped the CPUs and made it look close enough, then returned it for full refund in a re-sealed box. I doubt their RMA department is checking things that closely, probably see a sealed box and just toss it back onto the shelf.

I dont care about that. I just want to protect myself. As you said return/customer care. If you order something from "sold and shipped by xboque" good luck waiting for your return when it turns out to be bogus.

I was always under the impression that "sold by" Amazon meant that they were the retailer, while third party products being sold from Amazon warehouses were "Sold by XXXX" "Shipped by Amazon".

there are 3 main scenarios:
- sold by and shipped by Amazon
- sold by 'company' and shipped by Amazon
- sold by and shipped by 'company'

in most cases it's one or two and being most, sometimes people forget to check for scenario three and that's where they can often get caught up in something nefarious.

What's useful here if you want to depend less on Amazon, is to check to see if the seller has a website. I found that the woodturning chuck I was interested in (Australian made), was being sold by a Canadian company. It was cheaper, plus they paid for shipping. Found they had some nice HSS turning chisels, so I order one as well. I've done that a couple times now. Check to see if the vendor is Canadian and locate their website.
