Back in my android days it was every year or so typically...not because I wanted to, but I would have a random issue. On apple, a full reset when I sell/gift it.
I can attest to this. Back when a pixel was my daily driver after it went through a few major os updates I suspected something wasn't quite the same about it. And after a wipe it always behaved better. Then I found this www.flash.android.com, an official supported way to flash whatever os version you want. The phone always ran great after installing the os that way. This was before google pulled their battery "update" BS with the pixel4a.I noticed issues after it upgraded to 15, but not enough to bother with a wipe
iOS 26 actually runs amazingly well on my iPhone 12 Pro Max (or Max Pro).I can attest to this. Now that I've (grudgingly) adapted to iphone, you can do a similar thing with itunes and perform major updates that way. It optimizes free space on the phone too which is a nice bonus. I haven't done an iphone wipe in probably a year, but since I won't be going to ios26 anytime soon it's possible I might restore my saved backup sometime in the next 12-18 months.
I was about to say, lol. But yes, I rarely have to reset my phone. Normally, I don't have to do it and run my phones for 1-3 years, it all depends on what phone I buy. I do want to point out that my phones don't slow down over time, so just maybe it's all the apps being installed or uninstalled.@gingerbee no, it has nothing to do with the hundreds of apps I have installed, I swear it!![]()
