affects every AMD processor made since 2008 apparently. requires kernel access but the biggest concerns presented in the article are about already otherwise compromised systems getting even worse. the fix for compromised systems is likely to just replace the system. the process to remove the malware that are used with this vulnerability get into memory where you have to partially disassemble the system to see if it's compromised and try to clean it up. >.< fortunately, being it took 18 years to be discovered, most systems aren't likely to be compromised...but now that it's out, dun dun duuun!

Requires kernel access, so not a concern for most people?
isn't this always the case "big scary vulnerability" meanwhile they need to be at my house sitting at my PC to do it 😅

"To take advantage of the vulnerability, a hacker has to already possess access to a computer's kernel, the core of its operating system,"

With all the tech problems with chips, hacking, layoffs, AI problems, it seems the digital world is unravelling like the rest of the world. My guess is too many people/corporations are in too much of a hurry to be first in a race to an unknown finish line.

I keep looking in wonder with the 2 Voyager satellites launched in 1977; in spite of the various problems they've had, including recently, they are still 'ticking.' 👍👍

Meanwhile, Microsoft has decided my Win 10 computers which have been in service for years, are obsolete. Maybe Microsoft et al, you've stopped creative & useful thinking because of all the innovative staff you've laid off to keep shareholders happy.

Yeah I don't think these posts are really for typical consumers... it's really for corporations that are handling sensitive/classified data. And yet, they're probably also the ones running outdated hardware, firmware, software, etc :ROFLMAO:
