I got a D0!

Wow nice, lucky guy for having you nearby! I'd love to try LN2-I know where to get it, but its those pots that are the problem.

Yup, that's what you get for working in a local computer shop for a year...all the computer junkies know you

definitely was a good night with bojangles, great guy too. glad to help out and my back door is usually open so swing by anytime. we got his system up and stability testing around 4GHz and then did a little 06 CPU action with the 920. what was it, 20 minutes and we were up to 5.1GHz with ease? hammered out a quick 30K with a single GTX 295 at stock clocks...then got bojangles computer out to his car in the rain.

when i got back in the system had stopped and warmed up so there was a bit of moisture here and there so i didn't bother firing it back up. so no 10K CPU score last night. might have another go tonight after getting some work done. but it sounds like someone is hooked on the LN2 cold bug

yup, we'll be checking to see what it does under cold. should be interesting to see if it runs right up to 250BCLK like mine does.

when you get it fired up, your first instinct will be to remount the CPU cooler...don't bother, it is just that hot. you'll see that the temps Eric is getting are more than acceptable...for that chip. mine runs even hotter on the open bench at the same settings than his does in his case. but so far that is two chips running 4GHz stable right around 1.2v or less, so i would start there for other 3845B026's :thumb:

if you want, i can grab you a Dragon Evo from Vince and then ship it from up here in Canada. i should be at his place at the beginning of June after i get back from the NY i4memory overclocking weekend at the end of may.

it is his "bullet" tube design with the copper base and aluminum body. not the best pot for LN2 but no slouch either. i think that is actually the pot Jeremy (Sno.lcn) was using in LA. it definitely can handle LN2. if your interested i will get a price from Vince...i don't know for sure but i'm thinking in the $200USD range, give or take. the dollar is not bad these days

Thanks I'll think about that-I'll need to get the foam that the pot sits in and do some more homework. I have a DFI X38 board which will make a good test bed before moving to the i7 stuff.

Holy hell, you're hitting 77C at 4.0Ghz/1.20V with a push-pull TRUE? :shok:

Should have let Jody try your chip under LN2 :haha:

I'll be trying my D0 in an hour or so, just finishing some in-depth testing of my current chip so I can do a proper comparison.

MAC, thanks for posting on another forum about Soho Diffusion in Montreal, i went there to get it (lived on the same street as the shop for 3 years and didn't even know it existed...lol).

So i got my chip inside the beast yesterday. D0 batch 3849A84.

Very early testing, for a 24/7, i got it at 20*200 in seconds, HT on. 1.248 vcore, 1.29 QPI.

Setup is Gigabyte ex58-ud3r, OCZ Gold 3x2 1600mhz. TRUE RT, push only.

TEMPS are hitting the roof though. 79 C on Prime95 and 84 C on LinX. 45C idle.

It's hotter than my C0 at 1.4V !. Whatever, i couldn't do 4.0 with my C0 at 1.4v... lol

Thanks for everything. I'll try hitting BCLK ceiling later this week.

if that is without Turbo on (AKA 21X), try running 191x21 as it may need less vCORE to do so. a lot of the time, odd multipliers run with less voltage than even multi's on these i7's. HTH

I'll try this now. Thanks for the heads up. That would lower mem a bit though. But i guess better have less heat than 72mhz more on the Mem.

Also quick questions. Do you think there would be a difference between 191x20(21 w/turbo on) and 191x19(21 w/turbo on) ? Difference in the temps i mean.

this is true, although 72MHz isn't going to effect system speed, but if you can lower vCORE a bit, then perhaps you can inch closer to 200*21...

Yeah that's what I had to run. 191x21 (Turbo mode) has been stable for awhile now. I've been running two instances of FAH with CPU Affinity change and I'm getting just over 6000 PPD. That's without VMware either. It's been running all through the night. It's seen temps as high as 78 degrees now though. I may be able to drop the voltage down a bit

Perhaps I'll try running a single fan on the TRUE and see if that extra fan is actually doing anything. I need a better elastic band on the second fan too...I'm afraid of it breaking on me.

Hey bojangles, we have very similar setup! :punk:

Ok i'm trying LinX on 191x21 now. Lowered the vcore 2 notch down to 1.232 load.

Same idle temps so far.
