Intel i7-4960X Ivy Bridge-E Review Comment Thread

^^^^^ Absolutely!!!! The only reason I could justify swapping 3930k to 4930k would simply be OC'ability.....if by some chance the 4930k (or 4960x) were reaching 4.8 - 5 Ghz with around 1.38. - 1.4v Id definitely consider .......otherwise "meh".....although they are "Native PCI-E 3.0", but my nv 3.0 "registry hack" has been problem free.

Although Sky's review is of 4960x, I haven't seen great results with the 4930k yet, seems a lot of folks will be holding into there 3930k's ;)

Bottomline....if this new Chip doesn't OC as well as your present 3930k then I certainly wouldn't consider it an "upgrade" at all, I would feel more like it would be a dissapointing "downgrade"....IMHO.

I guess I'll soon find out.

^^^^ I dont think so Silk as you dont OC....well higher level OC'ing I mean ;) Really any of these Chips will do 4.2 - 4.3 Ghz without any trouble at all.

I know you're into Silence, have you considered the Swiftech h320..seen they are also in Stock at NCIX ;) Would fit nicely in the top of a 900D

...Now this is what I'm talking about...thanks Firex ROG for the pic...but is it representative

In my experience, the VCore is mis-reported in TurboV and CPU-Z. XTU is really the only one that I've seen any accuracy from and that's based on direct multimeter measurements.

What you're seeing is an outlier situation with a sub-1% sample.

Thanks for the review. I was going to get the X79 and 4930K but I think I will keep my IB Z77 until the X99 comes out. Now to off to find me a good 3770K.

Shame on Intel for not having this since last year because as we'd be talking Haswell-E right now.

In all honesty thats kinda what I figured with these new Chips....few guys are posting up some OC'ing results on the new Dark Board...nothing seems greatt yet..with 4.4 - 4.5 Ghz and 1.4v....although they're just getting going on those new Boards.
