Hi there, I recently got a second monitor and was wondering if I should upgrade my graphics card of if my current one is ok. I'm currently using a 6850 and noticed flickers when i hooked up my second monitor. I have since dialed back my overclock to the default clock speeds and have no problems. I also noticed that the temperature went up about 10 degrees since. If I were to upgrade it'll probably be in the $250 range. I would appreciate your advice.

hows your framerates? If they are good enough to play your games then you are probably ok. If not then upgrade, maybe look for a GTX 570

Framerates vary. In skyrim they seem ok at high but on work of tanks it fluctuates quite a bit anywhere from 20 to over 100. How would you rate those nvidia cards with the 7850. I hear more ram helps with higher resolutions.

7950 > 670 > 680 > 7970 at higher resolutions.. though I think your borderline and the 670 should have enough punch.

World of tanks from what I've heard is rather poorly coded.. at that res 2 GB should be fine.. add another monitor and the 3GB comes into play.

try selling your current card to bump the budget to at least a 7950.

It's always good to upgrade whenever upgrades are available. Provided you have the money.

I'm still relatively new to computers. Can you explain why the 7950 is better than the rest. Naturally you would think that the 7970 would be better than the 7950.

For high resolutions 4GB 680 will do the best job, but a 7970 will be significantly cheaper and almost as good.

7950 is the starting point and 7970 is the end point... was suggesting a 7950 as a min with any of the others being better..

With the price drops AMD just announced I'd wait a week or so and see how Nvidia responds.. if they don't the 7970 is damn good value when the prices come into effect.
