So I just picked this up this rig for my son, as his laptop was dying a slow agonizing death

Previously he just used his laptop speakers, so needed some sound. I pulled an old ancient pair of PC speakers out of the basement, but they truly do suck. They're all tinny, and not very full / loud. He does not have a lot of room to put speakers, so not looking for any big 5.1 set up. Just a small 2 speaker, or 2 speakers and small subwoofer setup. Also, as I just dropped a bundle on the PC, and he's no audiophile, I want to keep the new speakers under $100 if possible. Any recommendations? I'm currently looking at these:

I am interested in the outcome of this also.
I bought these years ago
and they work but are not that great, they are ok for now but looking to upgrade, i need a plugin for headphones because i get home late at night and watch some shows to settle down so I use headphones with a 25' extension cord hehe

Edifiers would be my go-to if you had the desktop space, but barring that, I don't think I've ever been disappointed in a set of logitechs (setting realistic expectations based on how much I paid for them).

I'm thinking more along the lines of these....

Those are "refreshed" though.

Is there no headphone jack on the computer case?
