My new $1000 gaming rig

Based on what I heard/read, TD is not the best place to shop.
I would probably shop in NCIX (they have one in Markham and Scarborough) and price match it there.

Just my 2 cents

I didnt know that, maybe I will, but I also just price checked the whole rig on NCIX and its still only 30 bucks less and the Tiger Direct is way closer to me. For some reason though, when I was looking, NCIX wanted 300 for the GTX465, which is ridiculous and I would also have to get the Cooler Master CM690 II Advanced as they don't have the case I want (not that thats a bad case). Maybe Ill buy the bulk at NCIX then the GPU and case at TD

Just a fyi, you can price match at NCIX with their advanced system and they can offer you a better price (sometimes). Hopefully that saves you a trip if you decide to go that route.

By price match he means using their price match feature in your shopping cart. You are able to get the best possible price (from a canadian retailer) on any product they carry. This is assuming they accept all your PM offers, which they usually do.

Shopbot.ca and pricecanada.com can be used to find prices. Doing a quick runthrough, you easily save over $100.

i wish I could get a GTX470 but it's just too expensive. The 465 from TigerDirect is only $220 where as the 470 is $400. And i prefer Nvidia to ATI, a lot more stuff is designed for Nvidia cards now a days, so I dont want a 5850

also, to everyone saying NCIX over TD: TD usually has better stock I've noticed. Right now they have everything I want in plentiful stock, but NCIX half the stuff is on back-order and the other half has 1-2 available. And yes, on most stuff NCIX is 10-20 bucks cheaper, but on other stuff (ie my GPU and my RAM) they are charging 100 bucks MORE! Here, I'll prove it (and also prove they have very little stock simaltaneously)

RAM:
NCIX vs. TD (also notice NCIX is on back order

GPU:
NCIX vs. TD (also notice NCIX has 1 in stock between all their warehouses)

and yes, NCIX offers price-match, but I can't find it on their site, and I feel really awkward asking for it. Ill probably just buy from TD.

Also, thanks for all the help on the components, you guys helped be build a much better rig for the money than my original plan.

Sorry but the right thing to say is, stuff (technologies) today was not available last year when the 58xx series came out. (Tessellation and scaling being the two main things, also multi-display setup). Now with the 68xx series AMD will have the advantage in those technologies. Just wait till next week and we will know for sure :)
