NCIX and Direct Canada removed from PC Part Picker

NCIX currently defrauding eBay customers. Advertising "more than 10 in stock" on eBay page, charging your paypal upon purchase, then declaring the item is out of stock, while still listing "more than 10 in stock" on the eBay page. It seems that eBay is OK with that kind of fraud.

Oh, NCIX, may your sockets be always filled with coreful processors, rest in peace old friend.

It seems GTA ended up with retail monopoly by CC. Sad.

I didn't even know about PCPartPicker, so thanks! Currently building a new build so I'm using it.

Pricebat, shopbot, shoptoit are probably the other best Canadian sites to check fyi.

I keep meaning to make a thread of every retailer with an online presence in Canada (including lesser knowns like Generic tech) and price comparisons/trackers and post it in the Off-topic, but then I just assume it'll get buried 3-4 pages deep :haha: within a week and never be seen again

I think this existed 5 or 6 years ago maybe. But due for a refresh haha.

Yeah, it still had PriceCanada IIRC and that's been closed for years. Maybe I'll make a nicely formatted thread with all the retailers, their shippping locations, if they price match and the major comparison sites.

I'll do it on company time so I'm even paid for it haha

Should check out B&H Photo, American company that charges USD (so when the CDN goes up things are cheaper from there). They have free shipping on I think it's at least 150$ and you can have them handle the taxes/duties, usually ends up being taxes + a few bucks. Friend of mine saved several hundred dollars buying parts to build a system over buying in Canada thanks to not paying it's being sold in Canada tax on some of our items which is not just the exchange rate...

Yeah I have bought from B&H Photo in the past and they so far have been great.

I also remember a thread of all the online retailers ages ago.

As far as NCIX goes I am not going to renew my premium partner again as the prices have gotten worse and often times I find a product that says PP not available. Some items are still pretty cheap with PP but it doesn't make it up anymore like it used to unless you are buying some big ticket items like some TVs for example. Most prices are higher than their competitors and they often reject price matching now. I have never had a problem with customer support though. They always answer my tech support in under a day or usually under an hour or two during business hours. They also always shipped items fast for me but I tend to not order things not in stock.

Their website also needs to get out of the 90's and needs a major update. Often times I use newegg to search for an item and then copy and paste to NCIX to see if they have it for cheaper. I love neweggs website and that you can filter so many things like timings on ram for example. NCIX has some sorting capabilities but it usually is crap and they often don't show you all the stuff they have. As far as keeping stuff in inventory they recently don't seem to carry ram anymore except for a few items. Graphics cards I can kinda understand because of mining but other sites usually have stock.

I will probably use NCIX less and less. What I care most about is getting my parts for as cheap as possible. I like that they price match even if it is just a few cents but the past few years they often are the most expensive choice so I use newegg, canada computers or even occasionally amazon. NCIX is just slowly fading away for me but I wished they just had some upper management change and modernized their website and have better pricing and they easily would be my number one place.

Actually, I'd love it, I'm sure others would too.

While on the topic - there is a site I found a month back, which I've unfortunately lost the link to, that tracks historical prices for a given product type across all brands and vendors. For example if your looking for a GTX1080 - it tracked the stock and price of ALL GTX 1080's (be it ASUS, MSI, EVGA, Zotac etc) broken down in a neat little list and showed you the cheapest price across many vendoers (it supported amazon, newegg and mike's for 100% certain, memory express and ncix maybe, iirc) for each brand, sub-model, etc.

If anyone knows what it is, please share, I've lost it sadly, though it might be in my browser history somewhere :(
It was really cool - if anyone

Ebay is getting pretty risky as of late, I avoid big e-tailers Ebay stuff as much as possible now. Lucky for me I no long engage in my computer hobby, I hardly do anything that requires much more than a web browser for my main PC and my gaming PC plays the few games I play very well.

NCIX has been dying a long painful death, could have been prevented but anyways....

Do a Google sheets and share it so that folks can filter, sort, etc.

Unless there ends up being so few retailers to make it more work than necessary.
