This is also worth a watch talking about the issues with data centers. There only about IIRC 5-10% of the actual planned datacenters being built or even started. One of them said it was "being built" with literally only 3 steel beams sticking out of the ground.

Weren't they planning on-site Nuclear Reactors for these since the grid wouldn't be capable of supplying them?
I recall something like that too, looking at rebooting three mile island and stuff to be able to supply these proposed data centers

They are also talking about building a nuclear plant in Alberta north of Peace River.

Yeah, IIRC it was something along the lines of the compact self-enclosed units which are used on Subs.

What is failed to be realized is the necessity to compete with other countries and that the use case for AI will develop to a necessity and not a luxury just as the internet did. Codex being released by openAI is a prime highlight of it.

Also shit like ubereats have 10B+ of debt, and barely turn a profit.

Quantum computing is the same shit and pumping billions all over various companies with nearly the same reasons AI is. AI is just more "today" than QC for use cases.

While the guy is mathematically right, society can not ignore the progression of AI regionally at a government level. These will eventually become your car dealerships when shit hits the fan for bailouts or even gov contracts for progression.

Also, what news exists pertains to a lack of supply for power, not other reasons that this dude goes off about profitability. AI will likely need to massively squeeze value out of people like uber did to turn a profit after a fat ass user base is populated.

I'm just hoping by then you can run your own model off a beefy GPU instead of dealing with the dog shit delivery driver service by then.
