the sharpness. Canon does sell cheaper stuff like this EF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 USM:

it's only around $500, but read some reviews on that one, not the greatest. best you'll hear it's good for the price, stuff like that.

no use buying an awesome camera and sticking on some medium build not-so-sharp piece of glass. like it or not, something 1/2 way decent starts at $1000-$1200.

Not true. Awesomeness comes from the user and not from the camera. Just check out flickr and see the images from a specific lens and you can hardly tell the difference between some of the expensive glasses and the cheaper ones.

One example is this $400 lens, tamron 17-50 - Flickr: Search, and this $150 lens, nikkor 50mm f/1.8 - Flickr: Search

An awesome (?) camera will not make you a better photographer. It is always how you use it.

so, i went out and bought an EF 35 f/2, a very basic prime lens but at least i can actually play with my new toy now. i'm pretty pleased with the potential i can see with this once i get a very sharp but $$$$ lens.

yea there's something suspiciously inefficient about the way photoshop's script resizes images... even M$ Paint does a better job at it lol
