Old Guy's first dream build and OC - Gulp!

I switched memory type when I changed to the Intel Core i7 930 CPU, it only supports DDR3-800/1066 type memory.

My original case choice was Coolermaster Haf 922 Mid Tower. Do I need the 932 full tower?
The CPU can support Ram speeds much faster than 1066. Stick to the DDR3-1600s you originally had.

Did some research and the 922 can house the D14.

Enjoy your new rig.

Welcome to HWC....nice to see a fellow Westcoast Islander here......I built my Dream Rig about a year and half ago and am still adding to it....I'm an old fart too...not retired nor semi-retired though :)......Feel free to PM me if you have further questions, there are a few things with your build that could be "improved" upon for that kind of $$$$....sometimes all the suggestions here (although all with the aim to help), can be "over-load".....

Cheers...

a bit off topic, but you got to like the community spirit in here. plus i dont feel bad when theres more old ppl around lol.

Quick final Update:

Checked with Gigabyte X58A-UD3R web site for approved memory
going back to DDR3-1600. Thanks.
OCZ Gold OCZ3G1600LV6GK 12GB DDR3 6X2GB DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 CL 8-8-8-24 Triple Channel

Found a fellow on the net with a video who installed Noctua NH-D14 in a HAF 922. He said he had to remove the top heat sink spreader bars to make it fit. I assume thats ok.

Watched another video of an unpacking of the Coolermaster Haf 922 case which is good because I found out it comes with 3 fans installed.

Also found a few better prices at directcanada.com on some things and saved an extra $50.
Most parts I'm getting from bestdirect.ca

Going to bite the bullet and order now.

I'll post back when the system is up and running and I am overclocking it up to 4.0

Thanks again to all of you who helped me build a better system for my needs. What a great forum.

Now that you've got what appear to be the best prices, do all of your shopping at NCIX and use their price match feature. You'll probably save yourself $20 in shipping by buying at one place.

I love the community support. This build will be wicked. The only thing i would say other then that is read about the gtx 460 before buying but either way you will be very happy. good luck and share some picks while your putting it together.
