I'm in need of an OS for a new build.
I'd like some buying advice.

Right now I have Vista Home Premium 64bit running.
Should I buy Win7 for my current rig (in sig) and put Vista on the other?
Should I buy 2 copies of Win7?

Windows 7 for all!

Might as well buy the 3-pack, since I think it would be cheaper.

It is pretty stupid how the end user gets raped and OEMs get it for like $10 or whatever it is.

I have to agree with jdrom17, Windows 7 for all.

I have loaded it on my machines here and we are starting to load it on any new machines at work. I very much like it.

Technet and get every other possible MS software you'd want for around the same price as you'd pay for 3 copies of the OS.

I really only need two copies.
Don't know if I can justify the cost of Technet or something like that.
I'll probably get one copy for my current system and put Vista on the other for a while.

:censored: expensive Microsoft :censored:!!!

+1 for Windows 7

IF you only need two copies wait for the "family pack" to come out. IIRC it will be like 50 bucks more for 3 key pack of home premium vs. the single key pack of home premium (ie about the same price for 3 keys of hPremium as ONE "pro" version). While I run 64 Ultimate (why not I have technet :)~ ) most peeps will find home premium good enough....and IF its not upgrade the comp to Pro that "needs" it!

Here is a link that expalins the expected pricing and options:

I would go for the three pack, you never know when you may need a third OS and if push comes to show and you know someone who wants your last copy of Win 7...
