Post Your Pets

Your guess is as good as mine. I learned a long time ago not to question my wifes level of crazy.

I could be wrong, but I'm under the impression that the typical reason for bells on cats, is usually because the owners (or should I say butlers ;)) want an early warning system on their felines, to keep the local bird population from falling victim to their furballs. I could be mistaken, but I was under the impression that your cats were all indoor kittehs, thus making the bells pointless......

EDIT: I should also say that she turns a blind eye to mine. She knows damn well how much I spend on pc parts but doesnt really say anything. It got us to 30 years this year...lol

LOL..... congrats on both making it to 30yrs., AND having no marital restriction on buying copious quantities of PC parts! (y)

She knows, but doesnt want to know. Know what I mean?

The bells are good for avoiding them getting stepped on as kittens I guess, plus we have a heads up when they try to dart out the back door with us.

I always say to her, If I was in prison I'd be parolled by now. She doesn't care too much for my kind of humour. Haha.

That, or you bring it in and it pees on everything and then you kindly return it to the wild. lol
that was a fear we've had a few times but it's never happened.

if they become outdoor cats it to lessen the impact they have on their prey populations. also, could be that due to them being kittens it just makes it easier to keep track of them if one goes missing or gets stuck somewhere that's not obvious.

Anyone try Feliway? I've got some on order to try.

One of my cats will occasionally pee somewhere he shouldn't when anxious. Which I did know about when I got him. Vets wanted him on some meds but I want to try this first.

And the goalie cat is driving me mental. He sounds so stressed out because I can't play with him all day long.

They are both anxious cats and any guest they will hide under my bed. Stuff is like $35/month but if it works it will be worth it.

We have used Feliway with some success, but mostly for outside interlopers around the doorways. The important bit is to eliminate the odour to the cat's nose by whatever means necessary. Vinegar or peroxide, baking soda combinations. The odour will trigger them to repeat the offense in the same spot. They will usually come around and it may help to run more than one litter box as well.

As for your goalie, all cats would like to have your undivided attention if they could. He has to learn to take what he can get.

The anxiety should diminish with time.

They can be challenging little buggers, but they have their good points too! Hang in there.

We have one cat, neutered male, who started peeing right next to the box. It turns out that we needed to change the litter because a high percentage of cats hate scented litter. A secondary factor was that we have a litter robot and he is a little big for it so he didnt want to go inside anymore. We put a larger box beside the robot and changed to an unscented stopped him from doing this.

Then recently our femal started peeing around the house. On my bed, on plastic bags, weird shit like that. Turns out she has a urinary infection. We put her on meds and that stopped.

So to answer your question, yes I asked my wife if she uses Feliway just now and she was surprised I even knew of the name. LOL. I reallly didnt until this thread. What she said is that before you use this, or even while, you must rule out other factors such as medical or environmental as well.

I have hyper sensitivty to things like smell and I can tell that the peeing around here has stopped, but with 5 damn cats I'll wait with baited breath before I say it's solved.
