It's not just discovery. Netflix's documentary section is an odd mix of gems (PBS Nova, Dateline, Hot Coffee, etc) and absolute shit like 'Alien Autopsy Exposed', conspiracies theory idiocy and other lunacy. It wouldn't bother me if they weren't billed as 'Documentaries' but they're based as much on knowledge and fact as homeopathy is based on real medicine.....

As for me. Work. I've worked 28 of the last 30 days. We're approaching project completion and management has finally realized we hired some crap inspectors and our lead is bad for the project. As our only white collar remaining with the proper inspection certs, I've been covering our final weld inspection in Fort Saskatchewan, our lead QC, starting commissioning resolution and trying to do final review and close out of my 5 separate contractors. Now I've been asked to head up north and finish the lead inspector's work, solve some of the idiocy my Northern counterpart started and I'll probably be asked to find Jimmy Hoffa while I'm at it.

So tired :S
 
They have even completely ruined the concept of any type of car show. They now just have the same amped up drama week in and week out. Every car builder thinks they are doing something so special when there are thousands of other builders not on TV doing the same/if not better thing. TV is best avoided at all costs. My wife watches a bunch of TV, but she is also completely physically disabled so her choices for entertainment are very limited. I'd rather have my kids sitting on their PC than watching TV.

There is no reality in reality TV. Only shows that touch any sense of reality are the wilderness shows. Those are hard to fake. But all the rest of the drivel is just IQ sucking......

Or the recent "Death On A Comet" about the finalization of the Rosetta mission by "landing" it on the comet. There seems to be a real or perceived appetite for flash over substance. Has been for quite some time.:sad: At least they're still including some substance in some shows. "NASA's Unexplained Files" is another pretty good show with a pretty bad title.

I'll have to give that one a second look then. I just caught a few snippets while surfing through and when I saw the title assumed it was one of those "aliens took over the astronauts" conspiracy shows. :)

There seems to be two warring factions at Discovery. The ones who just want to present interesting material without much drama, and the ones who always go for over the top-ridiculous drama.

"Secret Space Escapes" is another good one if you can get past the over dramatization. As if astronauts in a life or death situation need more drama. A lot of those kind of shows have the narrator going on about speculation and such and then interviews with former astronauts, mission controllers, or image analysts saying "here's what really happened folks".

big storm warning for Vancouver and lower mainland Worked security at the BC Beer Awards was expecting allot of impaired fools possible power outages ,but to my surprise there was allot of impaired people that were actually nice. after the event drove all the way home ( 50Km) a few branches on the highway , got to my building let my self in turn the corner towards my suite power goes out, I laugh not a huge issue its fairly late I will just crash for the night. walk into my place dam smoke detector is beeping every second. I am tired and am a very light sleeper so no chance I am going to sleep through the beeps. I go to unplug the smoke detector it doesn't want to unplug. I wait for another ten minutes still no power smoke detector is still beeping . BEEP beep 1 second later Beep Beep. grrr ok that's it I pull as hard as I can at the plug that is connected to the smoke detector , almost tearing the back off of the detector but yay finally it is unplugged I set the detector on the table... the power comes back on it is almost like something was standing there just waiting for me to do that so it can toy with me. and of course now I cannot plug the smoke detector back in
