Rants etc.....

Well you can only have 8 active abilities/spells. But even @ level 27 there are 2-3 passive ones I would still like to reach.

That 8 ability thing irritates the heck out of me in Inquisition. My Mage in DA:O was a spell slinging madman and in Inquisition I feel like a semi-literate apprentice instead.

You know you are getting old when you blow a sub and knock a capacitor off a gtx 1080 in the same day. Luckily all I lost on the 1080 was the warranty, but the sub is cooked. :(

At least it was my old one, and I can get a recone or replacement for cost.

There has to be a good story behind both of those incidents.

Video card is a lame story :( Was pulling the heatsinks off to prep to waterblock them, and even tho I was trying as hard as I could to be careful, screwdriver slipped and bumped a surface mount cap or resistor off. I was able to solder it back on, but not very pretty so I am sure of the card ever dies it wouldn't pass rma inspection. I looped Firestone for a couple hours and no issues, so I am OK for the time being :)

Sub is a better story. Got a paradigm Sub 1 for an insane deal and was replacing my ultracube 12. I had run Paradigm Perfect bass kit calculation on the sub one, then ran Anthem ARC and was thinking I should try both subs even tho I may have phasing issues. So rerun both suits with subs in parallel, and then tested with the wormhole scene in "interstellar" when my ultracube must have started clipping and I couldn't hear it over the insane low frequency from the Sub 1, and baked the voice coil. And I mean BAKED! It won't travel more than 2mm even when evenly pushing on the cone with decent force.

I will either recone or just replace the sub. Sad tho, was going to just sell it, but just HAD to try two subs Lol

Sooooo.......

Yet another major botnet attack using IoT devices. Here's a novel idea.... since manufacturers of IoT devices don't currently care to offer security updates for their devices, maybe government regulatory entities should get a list of the devices being used for the botnets and issue a mandatory recall for them based on a real threat to public security. That'd probably get their attention.

The only other solution is going to be for ISPs to start turning off individual accounts and providing a list of devices that cannot be connected to the network. (I know Rogers did something similar with certain firmware levels of routers which had a UPNP based security hole).

Maybe if a big company like Sony had a recall on 75% of their blue ray players (or heaven forbid put a recall on smart TVs) we'd see some action on getting these bloody things patched up.

Don't be silly. It's a really easy fix. Internet providers can provide a monthly service that will protect all our devices from attacks. They could do it for say $20 a month for each account. Even better, why not just put the onus on the consumer to secure their devices and start fining consumers for allowing their devices to be unwittingly used for these attacks.

Ok, that was sarcasm. Honestly, why we have to have every damn device we own connected to the internet is beyond me. This sounds like something that has no current solution, and it will take a new technology to fix it.

Instead of planned obsolescence they are going to steal more of our money making new security devices for our older devices. Just seems like a new way for the consumer to get ripped off by both sides of this mess.

I'm so sick and f'n tired of the recent trend in website design as it pertains to viewing sites in landscape mode.......

screen cap.webp

I'm trying to read reviews on a 1920X1200 res monitor and what I get is at best 20% coverage of the content I want. Hell it's not like they're even trying to monetize the space they're not putting useful content into.... more than 50% of that view is blank.
