Rants etc.....

Nintendo NES Classic edition sold out in seconds and minutes. This is bad comedy. Nintendo has had a history of this launch crap with little stock. Amazon.ca started selling them at 5pm EST yesterday. I got one added to my cart and checked out. Processed the order. Before they went out of stock, Which was a pain from the site crashing. Checked my email for tracking info this morning. And didn't receive one. Chatted to Amazon Customer Care. They told me that they couldn't fill my order because of stock shortage. They said they hope to have more stock this week. But I won't hold my breath. This is just retarded. Check ebay and scalpers are selling them for $400-$1000. Even local Kijiji, people are asking $300-$450. What a damn joke. Wait till Nintendo launches the Switch next year. It'll probably be worst then this fiscal!!!!

Artificial supply and demand

Got a new windshield in March. By extreme defensive driving I had avoided getting any cracks or large chips in the windshield. Even though I've done over 30,000 km since. But unfortunately today when I woke up there was a 6 inch crack. Feels bad man.

if started from an edge means body is flexing

Lowfat, I know some people who have stories of how they went up to GP for a new windshield only to have the new one get smoked by a rock on the way home. hwy 40 is not a safe place for windshields, I need to congratulate you for keeping one alive for 30,000 km!

My exercise bike died this weekend.... took it apart and confirmed that the tensioner is no longer functioning at all. If I want, I can manually adjust the tension and leave it at that level, but varying intensity levels are where it's at so I suppose I'll pick up another bike.

Can't complain I guess.... got 6+ years out of a low/mid level piece of kit.

I picked up a Marcy magnetic resistance bike and have been really happy with it. Costco.ca used to have them (might still) 200-300 new IIRC,. Seat isn't amazing but that's my only gripe, I don't think I'd ever go back to a band style resistance again.

The one I've been using claims to be magnetic resistance as well (Everlast® EV826 Recumbent Cycle with Magnetic Resistance) but on inspection still depends heavily on mechanical means to achieve it's goals.

It's essentially an electrically controlled rotary reel attached to a bicycle gear cable which when pulled physically moves what I'm assuming are magnets closer to or further from the inner surface of the flywheel.

What's non-intuitive is that the "relaxed" state of the cable allows the magnets to move closest to the flywheel thus inducing max resistance which doesn't make sense since the powered down state is supposed to be the lowest resistance.

If I were designing a magnetic resistance flywheel I'd do it with electromagnets and vary the field strength, but this appears to be done mechanically with natural magnets. (There are no wires going to the flywheel).

a friend of mine that does allot of biking actually uses his bike inside in the cold wet months using a resistance bike stand similar to these https://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&page=1&rh=i:aps,k:bike stand for indoor riding that way in the nice weather he can just unhook it and go for a ride out doors when he wants

Hrmmmmm..... I wonder......

I've already got the electronic display/odometer listed as "also bought". What I'd be missing is the heartrate sensor, and the extra push of fixed programs.
