I've tried every server in Canada. Never can get higher.
I'm using Vancouver server and will get 170mbit off it....
last 575 meg d/l shows 16.4 megabit
Yeah. Based on my experience, and friends/forums I think there is a bad router between you and (probably) everywhere outside of local routing etc, like speedtest.net, which is basically your ISP to another local ISP and doesnt involve L2 or L3 routing (which is why it always maxes you).
I'd start doing some tracerts and reporting them to your ISP. I bet you'll find you've been dropping packets and/or getting high latency from a L2 or L3 host for a while. Its just only really manifested itself when you're downloading from steam. A few years ago I reported a similar issue with a router in Chicago, and it took them less than a day to fix it after I identified it. They work fast!
What do you get from nvidias servers? I've always had them be a very healthy max bandwidth as well.
