Stupid bleeping neighbor kids.

Look not going to start a debate or anything like that but we have been here for like 12-13 years and have generally had no issues with the various families in our complex. But this past year we have had an influx of people move into a few townhouses and well lets just say we are getting prepared to move next year.

And along with many various problems the one that bugs the crap out of me is these damn kids like to open our back fence. It is right along a pathway so they will just pop it open and continue on walking. I know it isn't the end of the world or anything but it is my backyard, you don't open the f'ing gate!!!!

I guess I was just raised to respect someone's property.



TL;DR Leave my damn gate alone kids!!

If it's the standard latch, a bolt and nut through the lock hole. Takes 3 seconds to undo from your side.

they aren't thinking that say a child could be in the back yard and wander off, or a pet can wander off or in , I do find it strange for someone just open a gate that to me is strange

Any recommended brands/models? I got a 48" wide one, center drain, from MAAX that has a crack around the drain now. Doesn't look like it goes all the way through, but still, I'm guessing some water is leaking. Happens to be right where you stand mostly too.

It's from 2018 and was sort of a combo for the U-TILE system, alcove install. I guess it might be under warranty, but I ordered it from Lowe's for pickup and seemingly they didn't email any receipt and obviously their website is gone now.

I hate the Maxx stuff they always crack or chip. I'll get back to ya on that.

The two brands I use are Kalia and Kover. Andrew Sheret and other major plumbing suppliers have these or can order them.

One nearby neighbour have had multi issues with their kids. They tried jumping the fence right as we were walking down the alley with the dog (only had 1 at the time) "uh we were only trying to look over the fence to see if our parents are home". There is no way from that point to actually see if any vehicles are in front of their house and they were looking down on the other side etc.

Found our gates open multiple times before installing cameras too. No proof as to who was doing it but all signs kind of point one direction. Next door neighbours were having the same issue, some bags of bottles they had set out to load into the vehicle later disappeared in the middle of winter after a fresh snow fall. Foot prints lead directly to their house.

Throwing rocks over the fence trying to lob rocks at the dog. The older kids have friends that constantly show up park in the middle of the road and they try to be cool and slide around in the cul-de-sac especially when snow is on the ground. The sliding around in the cul-de-sac part doesn't actually bother me, but boy do they suck at it. One of them even has a RWD car and makes it look like the most impossible thing ever. Funny to watch them screw it up every time.

Police have been at their house multiple times over the years. My understanding is 3 of the 4 have been arrested for various things since moving in.

I do kind of feel lucky that they are the only real problem neighbour. One other house the owners are exceptionally rude in most interactions, mostly just ignore them and do our best to avoid any interactions at all. Everyone else is exceptionally friendly and easy to get along with.

Nope, I have cameras and they are literally just walking along the path, stopping to open my gate, pushing it wide open and then continue on their merry way. I would have zero issue if someone was trying to grab their cat or dog or something like that, but that has never been the case.

actually...why not get one of those springs that forces the gate to close? or perhaps put a second lock on the other side of the gate so it can't open? I know you shouldn't have to do this...but if it saves your sanity, do it!

Haha. I went in everyones yard as kid. We'd jump from garage to garage, take their garbage can lids and garden posts, have sword fights and everything.

I have cameras covering my whole property because of local low-income housing that has kids who are problems, I also posted several signs around my property to show there are cameras everywhere and auto lights for any motion at night, once the neighbourhood found out we have cameras the local kids avoid the whole street corner my house is on, worked like a charm.

oh everyone found out when a neighbour had his car stolen last summer and my cameras saw everything and caught the thief in the act which led to his arrest, also after that neighbors on both sides now have cameras too, so we worked out to cover each others houses so blind spots.
