Repasting a Nas?

has anyone done this im seeing temps rising on my old back up server its a old Qnap TS-469 Pro im wondering how hard would it be to locate the cpu and give it a cool clean and repaste with some proper paste?

ahh ok ill give this a shot off tomorrow for 5 days first time had a stretch like thats since Dec 2020 lol.

I have repasted a few things like that, locate heatsink remove, clean, and redo just like a computer. not to many things will have actual heatsinks on them so usually not to difficult to find.

This thing had a card that had to come out in worst way had to strip her down to bare PCB lol

Any difference in temps or noise? My QNAPs have never run loud, so I assume the temps are within normal range. The HDDs are always the audible part for me, these IronWolf's being the loudest yet... but I guess it's because they're 7200rpm.

The teardown doesn't look THAT bad, but yeah, that paste looked pretty crappy. Guess that whole process gave you a good opportunity to get the dirt off that fan too? Anyway, given the temp drop, it appears the process was successful..... congrats! (y)
