RTX 4070 Super reviews are live

I have a 4k monitor so 4090 or stick with my ps5 then? Lol.
I know that's part joke, but yes for sure if you want eye-watering FPS.

I mean I am playing all my games at 4K on my 6800 XT, and I get anywhere from 50-maybe 70 consistently depending on the game, and I enjoy that especially for what I paid for the used 6800 XT, but I know that isn't acceptable for everyone.

Edit. Sorry not an AMD gpu fan at all. Last one I bought was 20 years ago. (Outside of consoles)
As a ballpark (if I remember correctly) a PS5's GPU is somewhere around a 6700XT (I could be wrong on that)...but it should give you an approximation of how much better/more powerful a GPU upgrade in your PC would turn out. People can complain about consoles (including myself), but current PC/GPU pricing makes them a far better FPS/$ proposition.

Obviously subjective, but I think this class of card is perfectly fine and well suited to 1440 as well (or settings reduced 4k for those that prefer more pixels over higher settings in this class)...but I understand that it would depend on what you expect for FPS/settings in demanding games.
I 100% agree, its subjective and why I used "I only".

I generally dont turn settings down. Ever. I like eye candy, and I play on 3440x1440@165hz, so a 4070 (super) wouldnt fit my bill.
Even in Path of exile I only pull about 80 fps at max everything. If it ever broached 60fps I would upgrade my GPU before turning settings down.

Anyone care to ask me how I survived "But can it play Crysis?" years?

By not play playing Crysis

Another consideration with consoles, at least in some games as I understand (Starfield being a recent example) they cap the FPS at 30 or 60, especially at 4K. So that means it isn't giving the same experience someone might expect from their PC gaming.

100%! That is how they get a "4k" picture out of an ~6700XT ish level GPU for the masses. Refresh rate limitations, reduced settings (vs max possible on PC or other quality modes on the console), and variable resolution with upscaling.

i miss the days of Titans being in that ballpark and you knew what you were getting with these its whatever they can cut down from there top tier pricing dont make sense anymore but inflation/tarrifs will ruin the msrp.

yup. For a long time it was price wars and building the stack of cards with prices for gamers...then they added halo cards at the top for those with deep pockets...then mining and COVID pushed prices up (and now AI)...now they set halo card pricing and scale down pricing with performance from there.
