B5 has aged far better than most IMO.
Have you seen TNG Season 1 recently? Even upscaled, the first eps look like they were made in the 60s. B5 however upscaled really well*, and there are even edited versions of the entire series in 16:9 out there now. *The CGI isnt great tbh, but since it doesnt have the exposure or following of a Trek, I doubt we'll ever get a full remaster of the CGI, sadly.
Id be curious if someone or a small group could repurpose a game engine or reskin an existing game to recreate the space scenes with modern textures and resolution... tis just a dream though.
Regardless, the B5 story and acting easily make up for any other shortcomings. Let's face it, TNG was carried almost entirely on PatStews acting chops through the first season, with the rest of the cast improving as the show went on. B5? Multiple excellent actors and actresses, there from the vert first episodes. Its easily amongst the top Sci Fi ever made, again IMO.
Ive always loved that movie, especially for the parallels to a certain classic cartoon character."Bugs Bunny is having a bad day with a gun" is hilarious
You wont be disappointed. Theres a couple of clunky early episodes here and there, but the acting is first class, and the story even better. J Micheal Straczynski wrote most of the series, the overall arcs and most of the episodes himself. Its excellent. You sold me, I've never watched Babylon 5, but it's now next on my watch list.
I used AI to upscale DS9 and it (for the most part) did a great job, might have to do the same with Babylon 5.
@Cypher^64 and continuing what CMetaphor said, being written by the same guy, I believe he had written all five season before the first one was shot, so the story just really holds together well. I think it improved when Bruce Boxleitner joined the cast, but I suppose there's some debate there. But the characters in the series are excellent. So many memorable scenes and moments...You wont be disappointed. Theres a couple of clunky early episodes here and there, but the acting is first class, and the story even better.
