This sounds wonderful another screw up by Microsoft

In 2022, Phison shipped 600 million controller chips(20% of the market). Even if it's only one or two models, you still have a huge number, then the odds of using Win11 and playing CP2077 50GB update (30 million in sales), you don't have a small number globally, with those odds, I would expect to see much higher numbers than what is being reported. Writing a 50 GB file is not rare anymore.

So it seems Phison is investigating this and will let folks know what they find ( ie damage control, if it's real, they will patch firmware ), but if you look around the web, there are many saying the failure of these drives is not new and is a known problem with large file writes ( never heard that before today). It seems like this has taken some strange turns.

I am still not convinced since MS/Phison says there may be something to it ( damage control ), yet we haven't seen anywhere near the number we should see, if just this update can kill drives from a large file write.

Now there is talk about false documents and whatnot, kind of crazy

Order of their articles.

What I am wondering at this point is this all damage control or is there something to this, is it certain hardware together causing this problem with the update, is it just the update and somehow only a small numer of drive affected, I have no clue the only thing that still makes sense to me is the low number of failers that have been reported which makes me question all of this. Don't know WCCFTech at all, so can't say how trusted they are or not.

very strange, can't wait to see wtf.

One article said extracting many 200MB RAR files causes it too 🏴‍☠️

As for the "document", it clearly says "Generated on August 20, 2025"... it certainly reads like all the various AI summaries out there... To me it looks like somebody just pasted it into Word and set it to Times New Roman to fancy it up, then used their phone to take a picture of it :ROFLMAO:

OMG I didn't notice that.🤦‍♂️🤣

People tend to blow things out of proportions these days... sounds like it's just this 1 user that was doing some testing too.

This will be off-topic here
Especially most generations after late and including some gen xers complaining making huge things out of what to me is really nothing its like oh crap I broke my cup ok clean it up with the newer gens instead of cleaning up they make a huge ordeal about it, start to debate on who should clean it up and if maybe the handle was glued back on they may say something like it wasn't my fault the handle unglued or something instead of saying oops I will get that after all it is just a broken cup lol
