Ubisoft To Make 'Open World' Star Wars Game

Yeah, I am likely going to go the U+ route that you described and play it that way, buy with the discount if I decide I like it enough. Worth it to run around in a Star Wars setting for a while! :) Also right now I am playing Space Marine 2 and started Ghost of Tsushima, so that's a lot for me!

What was your final assessment of the enemy AI though @JD ? Some videos I've seen are hilarious and bonkers. But I realised after being concerned about that, that although I like the idea of realistic and hard gameplay, I don't really have the stomach for it these days when I sit down and disconnect my brain to play a bit! I've dropped difficulty a notch on recent games so I could still have a bit of a challenge but I play more for the story.

I've definitely been going that way too, more of a "smell the roses".

I left the enemies on the default, I had tried bumping them up but found they discovered me way too easily and I didn't feel like re-playing the same part of a mission over and over. I disabled the weapon cooldown and lockpick minigame. I probably should have disabled slicing too. But it's nice that it lets you adjust all those things, so you can have a more cinematic experience.

If you want to have a gun battle, just go shoot up an Imperial base. They'll send a death squad as well. No impact to any of your faction relations either :)

Overall I'd say the AI is pretty bad though. Either it's too easy to be spotted, or they're entirely oblivious to you.

I'd rate it 7/10, as other than the main quest line I'm not sure how much point there really is to the rest. I've played 33hr now and "finished" effectively, as there's no "NG+" loop or anything like that. Not sure it really makes sense to own it, unless you enjoy roaming the Star Wars universe :)

Excellent! Thanks JD. Like you read my mind with those answers! :)

have you been following the big fixes that are coming or just arrived?
I never ran into any notable issues, and didn't understand all the complaints at launch.

The new DLC sounds good, but even if you were to buy the base game, it doesn't come with it. You'd still be looking at $110CAD, or subscribing to a month of UPlay+

They improved the AI a fair bit, some say not as much as they should yet, but better. They changed the stealth mechanics in a variety of ways. They changed it so that you don't drop at least the last two-handed weapon you picked up when you climb a ladder or similar, so now you can keep using the weapon, and other things like that.

Here's the patch notes. Sounded like good improvements to me and addressed a lot of complaints:
