What is your Internet speed?

Telus Fiber is FINALLY available, the 3g/3g plans is available for my place.

Now that it's here, I just don't see the point lol Guess I could handle more plex users.

Yeah I had 3/3 from Bell for about a year until prices skyrocketed. It really makes no discernable difference, 1/1 is "enough". You'd have to have a lot of people in your house hammering it to really hit a point where it becomes necessary.

Even for your Plex use case, if your streams are ~25Mbps (like Netflix 4K), that's still 40 users at 1Gbps.

It does wonders for keeping your private tracker ratio(s) up though.... ;)

I have some pretty big files. This would be a medium sized one of the larger files..

Just got a call from Rogers saying they are getting rid of legacy accounts, of course tried to upsell other crap I don't want/need.

$10 more per month for the exact service. Told them I'm not signing up for 2 more years at an increased price for the same service and I'd go month to month until I find something different.

Any one with Telus fiber, can you put their firewall/gateway into bridge mode like I can with the Rogers gateway?

They tried the same thing saying they wanted to bump me from my legacy 500/500 up to 1g/1g but wanted more money. "Well I'm locked in at this price until August or September so i'm not voluntarily paying more sooner than i need to"

Supposedly if you do it right can you not only access bridge mode but if you have a SFP+ fiber compatible router (like a UDM-Pro or other things) you can bypass their hardware completely. The short time I was with telus I didn't try it though.

I just noticed my current one with Rogers doesn't end until August 2026, so I have some time to try and catch some Telus sales. Couple month back I saw their 3g/3g for $85/month.

Watch the fine details on that specific offer the price lock guarantee for 5 years is the $150 rate not the $80 price. The $80 price is only good for 2 years.
