Whats your latest purchase?

A (looks to be really old.... :) ) Polk PSW-125 Subwoofer @ $55 from Kijiji. Wanted to add a sub to the 4 Edifiers I've got as surround speakers for a little bit of extra punch, but it didn't necessarily need to be audiophile quality since I only use it for gaming and windows audio (music plays through my receiver via optical).
The dude had posted pictures of it without a banana for scale and I was shocked at how big it was when I picked it up (heh.... that line taken out of context would not be something to throw on a CV... ). It's 420X460mm and 420mm high (16.5X18").

Took me a while to figure out that I had to de-select the speakers as full range and set the crossover, but everything seems to be working as advertised now. (Just have to find a spot to put it in).

I'm curious...how good are you with your hands for basic woodwork? can't beat $55.00 if it works, but for a bit more, you could build your own sub that would be equal to something many times higher in price vs. the cost of materials.

I dunno.... I have a hard time believing I'd be able to grab even just the cabinet materials for less than $100, then you'd need a speaker, crossover, and some kind of 2.1 Class D amp (My fossi would work, but it would be a bit under powered for a 12" sub). I can't see building decent sub for less than $400 by the time you add it all up.

On the plus side... it appears to be working fine. It's quite a bit overpowered for the default 50% level edifiers so I had to dial the sub down in windows sound settings to give me the kind of range I needed/wanted on the sub's volume control.

Going to be a hell of a lot more than $55 tho.

I don't think you could build even one for under $400 if you were going to use a plate amp.

I was back and forth on it since before Christmas, but with 42 min to spare in the 20% off sale, I bought a Tobii Eye Tracker 5.

I've been a long time TrackIR user, as in years and years, but I've switched to some open earbuds lately for gaming as I've been finding that more comfortable, and that means nothing to connect the head-mounted part of my TrackIR setup to. Also, just having the option to not have something else to wear/charge for that functionality, and adding the eye tracking to the head tracking, and the fact that the Tobii comes highly praised by Star Citizen and DCS World players helped me make up my mind.

I bought it from Amazon.ca that incorporated an instant $80 coupon applied on checkout. That coupon matched the 20% sale direct from Tobii. But the Amazon.ca purchase incorporated the import and fees stuff so hopefully no surprises. Tobii had a warning on their site that they had no guidance on what you would face for customs, duties, taxes, etc. so that unknown was spooky.

Wow they are still a thing? My Alienware laptop from 2017 had that built-in but I guess like Kinect was also all the rage around that time too. I just figured the motion/eye tracking stuff all fizzled out.

Oh good heavens no! :) Tobii and TrackIR are the kings in space and flight sim games for head tracking. Tobii also has support for tonnes of other games of various genres (https://gaming.tobii.com/games/)

What??? Doesn't everybody with a TrackIR just clip it to the brim of a ball cap that they wear while gaming??? :)

I sorta can see why TrackIR would be nifty to have...but at the same time, if you turn your head 90 degrees or further, to check behind your shoulder, you aren't looking at the screen or not even able to see what you should be able to see. is that the 'limitation' or is that when you need to have 3 to 5 screens to counter?
